NBC // Peacock // KMOX // WIJRMay 31, 2026 at 11:59 am #308642Great, another game I cannot see.
Thank you MLB.
Guess I will be watching Barnaby Jones tonight instead. Maybe even Blue Bloods.
May 31, 2026 at 12:10 pm #308644Rat, surely you get NBC?
May 31, 2026 at 12:24 pm #308646Working the Rockies-Giants, but with us being the late game I will be able to see this one, if it is on the national NBC network that is.
Last night was lame – we looked more like the team our run differential shows than the club our record indicates.
May 31, 2026 at 2:16 pm #308651Afraid I’ll have to catch tonight’s game on replay tomorrow. Too late for me to stay awake. My best wishes for a thorough thumping of the Cubs. A little more hitting s’il vous plait!
Tonight’s din-din was Armenian meatball soup and iced tea. We finished off yesterday’s lemon cake for dessert.

May 31, 2026 at 3:16 pm #308656What Outfield defense? Who needs that?
We have a career infielder surrounded by 2 linebackers. What could go wrong?
May 31, 2026 at 3:33 pm #308657Pushard DFA and Dobbins called up.
May 31, 2026 at 3:33 pm #308658What could go wrong?
Something different than what went wrong yesterday. So it doesn’t get old.

Visions of 2023…
May 31, 2026 at 4:28 pm #308660The simultaneous NBC/Peacock broadcast can take on a confusing nature in regards to whether or not the game is indeed telecast on the over the air NBC network. The last time NBC/Peacock hijacked a Cardinal game it was only available by submitting to the silly streaming method. Thankfully, this evenings’ game is telecast over the air on the Gowdy/Kubek/Garagiola network…I managed to wade through and sort out all of the streaming nonsense to watch the game the last time that the stupid peacock pecked it’s way into ruining things for baseball fans, but by the time I jumped through all of the hoops required to set it up, it simply wasn’t worth all the trouble or all the bad words I’d uttered prior to finally cracking the code…In addition to that, I recall that the play by play personnel did a lousy job with the commentary. The entire thing is so incredibly dumb that it doesn’t really even qualify to be termed as nonsense. You can probably tell I don’t like it very much…
May 31, 2026 at 5:14 pm #308661I sympathize TD. My kids paid the $99 and my grandson came over and got everything downloaded or uploaded or whatever and set it all up so I can watch the Cardinals TV games. If I stay up that is. If I try to watch non Cardinals games it says I have to subscribe to something else. I understand there is a cheap package I could buy and watch minor league games but haven’t looked into it.

If you want to watch minor league games live, they are free here every day.

If you subscribe to MLB.TV, minor league games are included. They are also archived for later viewing. Not sure about Extra Innings or the other packages.
May 31, 2026 at 5:25 pm #308663I get the jokes, but it is time for folks to start recognizing that Walker has made himself into a good defender in right.
May 31, 2026 at 6:02 pm #308664He’s been entirely up to snuff out there in RF so far this season. I’m guessing that he’s put forth plenty of effort and work in order to ramp up his defense and it seems to have paid off for him. I can’t remember the last time I saw a young Cardinal player improve with both the mitt and the bat much as he has this season. And he just turned 24 a bit more than a week ago, so he’s still really young. If he continues to move in the right direction, he could be a special baseball player before he’s done. We’ll see what happens.
May 31, 2026 at 6:16 pm #308665Yeah, it’s crazy, Bling. I had to switch cable providers after trying to tune in on opening day and becoming aware that the AT&T set up that we’d had for at least 20 years no longer carried the games. No warning, not even a heads up, nothing at all from the no good so and so’s. I squandered at least an hour on the phone with someone located in another hemisphere and speaking to me in broken English and was told if wanted to see the games, I’d have to reach into my pocket and come up with some more cash. No Mas…Finito…All done! It’s no wonder we seem to get a bit grumpy with age…Haha!
May 31, 2026 at 6:30 pm #308666Its nice hearing Albert on the telecast.
May 31, 2026 at 6:50 pm #308667Yeah, I think it’s safe to say that one of the guys in the booth knows a little bit about hitting a baseball.

He is no longer one of the worst all-time like he was in 2023, but he is still not “good.”
Fangraphs has him ranked 9th out of 16 qualified right fielders.
Fangraphs RFStatcast Outs Above Average has him ranked 19th out of 37 by success rate and at -2 OAA.
But, yes, a vast improvement from where he was.
May 31, 2026 at 7:23 pm #308670There in the 3rd Walker looked like his old self waving at a fader he had no chance to hit for strike three.
As to defense, Walker does a much better job of passing the eye test. It sounds like defense metrics have him more or less average. I have to admit I am surprised by his improvement defensively.
May 31, 2026 at 7:25 pm #308671Thank goodness for burly.
And Winn does something. 5-0
May 31, 2026 at 7:25 pm #308672Being 9th of 16 and 19th of 37 is about as middle of the road as one could possibly be.
May 31, 2026 at 7:26 pm #308673Well, maybe he’ll develop into another Roberto or Larry…
May 31, 2026 at 7:31 pm #308674Being average is fine unless everybody else is better.
