That’s the exact recipe for offensive success, Bling.
Pallante kind of begging for 1st inning trouble as he’s walked 2. And Cortes lines a shot up the middle, but that’s exactly where Winn had him played…..we head to the 2nd in a 4-0 St. Louis ballgame.
May 12, 2026 at 9:12 pm #307209I hope we will be privy soon to how these home plate umps are faring on their balls and strikes, now that their judgements can almost immediately be checked for accuracy. They should list the league’s best and worst right under the league leading players stats.
May 12, 2026 at 9:18 pm #307210That knuckle-curve Pallante just flung was something special. Let’s see more of those……and we’ll be seeing more of him for the years to come.
May 12, 2026 at 9:22 pm #307211Pallante sets the A’s down in order in the 2nd. 32 pitches thus far…..the last out on a very close play at 1st….nicely executed by Saggese at 3rd…..and Sacramento is challenging the call…….and the A’s win their protest so unfortunately the inning carries on. McNeil lofts a short but effective fly ball into short left field as it falls in for a hit. And now we get what we didn’t want with multiple runners on base…..KURTZ.
Kurtz lines a base hit to center scoring a run and what was clear sailing has now been transformed into a dark cloud shrouding the stadium here in the 2nd.
Langeliers splits the gap in left-center field that scores both McNeil and Kurtz and now the Redbird lead has been severely compromised……4-3. Truly is a game of inches as the challenge the A’s just won by an inch, not only resulted in a bunch of runs for them, but has also tacked on a bunch of extra pitches on Pallante’s arm.
Soderstom pops out to Winn at short.
Cards 4
A’s 3May 12, 2026 at 9:33 pm #307212Terrible echo in here…..looks like I’m the lone wolve in these woods tonight.
May 12, 2026 at 9:34 pm #307213Didn’t look like Pallante appreciated that nice and cozy 4 run cushion.
May 12, 2026 at 9:35 pm #307214I’m right down here with you on “The front row” Pugs…
May 12, 2026 at 9:39 pm #307215Haha…Das Boot! Let’s cash in on it.
May 12, 2026 at 9:52 pm #307216Really working JJ up and in. That seems to be a general trend lately for him. He tends to swing at high pitches inside or out over the middle.
May 12, 2026 at 9:58 pm #307217I’m no longer the lonesome dove in the park. Welcome TD & Jnevel!
May 12, 2026 at 10:01 pm #307218There’s Kurtz again in the on deck circle. It seems like he comes up about every 4th batter…..great Pallante gets his man so we won’t see Captain Kurtz until next inning…..fortunately with nobody on base.
May 12, 2026 at 10:05 pm #307220So refreshing in that Walker seldom chases those pitches off the outside of the plate. Last year he never saw one of those that he didn’t like. The light bulb has certainly clicked on for this young man.
May 12, 2026 at 10:08 pm #307221That ain’t no good.
May 12, 2026 at 10:14 pm #307222Well, the CS looks like it may have helped the A’s escape the 5th unscathed.
May 12, 2026 at 10:16 pm #307223As is often the case, this game looks to be decided by the BP’s.
May 12, 2026 at 10:17 pm #307224Hello Pugs . . . And 1TD. I’m often checking in here just to either find out the weather in SW Indiana or hear the “Das Boot” call!
May 12, 2026 at 10:27 pm #307225Ha! Yep, TD’s “Das Boot” call is worth the price of admission to this Game Thread alone, Jnevel.
May 12, 2026 at 10:27 pm #307226Haha…That was a textbook Das Boot from the A’s SS. You could almost see it coming as his feet were all cattywampus while he was moving to his left before the routine bouncing ball glanced off the heel of his mitt. He thoroughly booted that baseball…
May 12, 2026 at 10:29 pm #307227JJ plants a long one into the right field cheap seats……#8 is worth 2, extending the Cardinal lead to 6-3. We sure have some quality young boppers on this team…..a team that has forgotten alllll about Sunday’s debacle.
May 12, 2026 at 10:29 pm #307228And Wetherholt with the 2 run tater to make it a 3 run Redbird lead!
May 12, 2026 at 10:32 pm #307229Another Das Boot, TD……this game has now seen multiple Das Boots…..luckily all by the home team.
May 12, 2026 at 10:33 pm #307230Yeah, Pugs, that’s a lot of taters for a 2B to have collected before mid May. This youngster may work out to something good over on the right side of the Cardinal IF.
May 12, 2026 at 10:36 pm #307231Don’t look now, but this may end up being the most exciting Cardinals summer in quite a few years. When you totally break down a team it just goes without saying that it’s going to be a couple years at the earliest before you’re ready to compete at a high level…..what happened to this 2026 Cardinals squad?
May 12, 2026 at 10:41 pm #307232what happened to this 2026 Cardinals squad?
Jordan Walker and JJ Wetherholt happened. In between are 2 guys we already knew could hit. Consistent run producing top of the order night after night.
May 12, 2026 at 10:42 pm #307233That nice green grass beyond the OF fence looks like a really nice spot to unfold a lawn chair and enjoy a baseball game on beautiful mid-May evening. I don’t know how much better life could be for a baseball fan than that.
