Maybe the staff ace can stop the 4 game losing streak.

We will get Skenes at some point in time this series.

I don’t think Skenes has fared well against the Cardinals thus far in his career – Koufax couldn’t get Bob Uecker out for what it was worth.

ZTR is correct. Uecker on one occasion in a Cards uni, whalloped a monstrous home run off Koufax and was then intentionally walked later. Bob Uecker very well may have been the only man in baseball that Koufax really wanted no part of. Uecker later commented that he hoped his hitting prowess vs him wouldn’t end up preventing Koufax from gaining admission to the HoF.

Well with our Ace on the hill tonight and with Skenes dealing on Thursday, that’s pretty much 2 Redbird wins right there. This could be a nice series for us.

There is a big pile of green stuff that is passing through Indiana and Ohio as I type this. The Pittsburgh area is not too far away. Plus game time is two hours away as I type this.

Keep your fingers crossed that meteorological conditions allow us to get this one in.

Din-din today was a couple of baked potatoes, a can of Allen’s Cut Green Beans, and two big bowls of Turkey Hill Old Fashioned Vanilla ice cream.

A meatless din-din for Rat today……that’s a first. Maybe we should all follow in Rat’s footsteps today and opt for a vegetarian din-din. I’ll go first by passing on the ribeye steak I had in mind and instead order spaghetti…..with no meatballs. I’ll toss in a small salad and Italian bread. And no dessert…….keeping it healthy today.

Leave it to “Mr. Baseball” to be worried that his tater and subsequent IBB would prevent Koufax from being voted into the HOF. It’s one of the countless reasons that “The Ueck” will forever be seated in, “The Front Row”…

In an odd sort of way tonight’s game feels a bit like a season opener in respect to it’s the first game of the season against a NLC division rival and a long standing NL team who in reality have been around a little longer than the Cardinals. It’s almost May and all these games against AL and expansion teams like DC, Miami and Tampa Bay almost seem like exhibition or ST’ing games. It’s almost as if genuine Big League baseball begins this evening. Of course, if tonight’s action extends into extras I’ll feel as if I’m watching some sort of bizarre dog and pony show as soon as I see that make believe, fairy tale baserunner standing on 2B…Haha!

It’s 45 minutes from first pitch and at this point it looks like the greater metropolitan Pittsburgh area is free and clear of wet stuff. We might be able to get this one in tonight.

However, it is still pouring here in SW Indiana. Whitey Herdog is under my desk as I am typing this.

“Another t-bone”? I see someone is not adhering to Rat’s vegetarian din-din suggestion tonight. Mrs. Bling is probably out-of-town again. Do you think you have a third t-bone in you on this fine Monday evening, Bling?

I really see us roughing these guys up tonight. By the 5th inning many of our posters will be going nighty-night early with smiles on their faces. I’m calling this one 9-3 Birds with Burly muscling up on a 2-2 heater and depositing it into the cheap seats in right.

We are at the gym as I type this, so once we are home and dig out din-din I will report in. On the veggie theme we used to faithfully do “meatless Mondays”, but have gotten out of the habit. Still we try to do a couple veggie meals each week.

Our softball games were rained out this morning – hope the Bucs and Birds play.

I really like seeing Church in CF over Scott. Maybe they can call up Bryan Torres at some point to get some LF reps in and see if he can develop into a super util guy as he has played basically everywhere including C. Torres doesn’t need to be a regular and just developing him into a role player is a win. He doesn’t really seem to have anything left to prove in AAA and may as well get a shot.

We try to do vegetarian for 3 or so nights of a 2 week stretch as we meal plan that far and typically cook enough to last a few nights. That avoids having to cook each night.

Tonight is salmon, baked sweet potatoes, broccoli, and Sister Schubert rolls.

    Well, phooey.

It’s raining so hard here in SW Indiana that I’ve lost the signal on my DirecTV.

Maybe it will stop raining soon.

With a tip of the cap in Bling and his 2 (and possibly a third) t-bone steaks direction, Albert weighs in with tonight’s Top Din-Din of The Night honors. Congrats Albert on a delicious din-din done right!

That black and gold Pirate’s home uniform looks exactly like a Big League baseball uniform ought to look. Don’t ask what that means, but that’s the way it looks…

Alright people, back from the gym and recovered to where we are getting din-din together. Since we were at the gym we went the easy route and dug a Bertolli meal out of the freezer – chicken Parmesan with penne pasta. Add a big tossed salad and focaccia bread dipped in oil and vinegar, and you might think you are at a fine Italian restaurant. 😀

Not quite veggie tonight but easy and tasty.

Thanks Pugs! I’m surprised my healthier meal won but I do like salmon a lot.

Couple of hot dogs with mustard with potato salad and an ice cold Coca Cola for 1TD. However, I was still hungry so I followed it up with pimento cheese on white soft-twist Bunny Bread and an ice cold glass of cow’s milk. Simple, easy and pretty good.

    Nice…..very nice, BicycleMike.

Don’t let this slow start fool you, as this is our night for our bats to come alive. Down 2-0 early, but still love our chances.
