I’m trying to fill in for Pugs here Wooster! He’s far better at this than I am.

Winn provides some hope after he punches one into the LF corner with 2 strikes and slides in safely at 3B for what I believe is our first triple of the season. He scores on a sac fly which the Marlins were happy to trade for. Saggese continues to press at the plate being way too aggressive. It’s not like him, but he’s overdoing everything trying to keep a job . . . and losing it in the process. Fermin battles but can’t turn on any of the inside strikes as he watches them all go by for the backwards k. No coming back in this one folks.

5-3 the final. The bad guys win it in front of just over 3500 faithful fans. And I did confirm that was our first 3-sacker on the young season.

Pugs is definitely a hard one to replace Jneval! Wasn’t a terrible 9th inning but one last impression. Never let strike 3 on a full count-end of the game go bye without at least swinging at it! He’ll get more chances though-just don’t do it again-lol!

Yeah, Wooster, and that called 3rd strike to end it was, as Shannon used to say, “Right down central”…

Keep waiting for victor to catch fire, but patience beginning to wear thin.

He might already be on fire, in which case lets hope he doesn’t cool off.

I’m not sure why so many are holding out hope for Scott to improve offensively. His career slugging is .288. That would be a bad OBP but for a SLG that is just horrendous. His underlying stats all show he is performing about as expected and there probably just isn’t more in the tank offensively for him.

He is a top 5 defensive CF, but he isn’t the best as that honor goes to PCA of the Cubs. Scott is at the point where if there was a single viable replacement, he would no longer be the starting CF to me as the offense according to FG has been -4 runs below a minor league replacement player and his defense from OAA has only been worth 1 run saved.

Jnevel: “I was a Redskins fan for whatever reason until Dan Snyder bought the team.”

Same for me Jn…… a Redskins fan until the organization went to hell. First time in my life that I gave up on a favorite team…. which includes the Detroit Redwings. I almost gave up on the NFL but now I’m watching again. Changed my allegiance to the Bengals. I still check in on the ‘skins. Does anyone need Redskin memorabilia?

But the Cardinals and Redwings are etched on my heart until death do us part.

This VSIII situation has been brewing for the last couple of seasons…. along with the Walker displeasure.(VSIII may become another miracle) I’m not sure that ScottIII is the long term answer for this team considering we are looking at ’29/’30 as the turn around years. Maybe Honeyman or Peete suit that spot better. Our draft pick should be the best HS CF available. Look to the future my frieds…. look to the future.

Yes, thank you very much, NyQuist, Jnevel & Wooster. My pregame thread predictions have been off the mark of late. For example, in the Cleveland series I predicted us to win 6-3 and we ended up winning 6-5 and then in the next game my fearless forecast called for St. Louis to win 4-3 and then we won 5-3. Then last night I called it 5-3 Birds and the game did indeed finish 5-3, but unfortunately with the Marlins on top. By my standards these predictions are wayyyy off the mark. Please be patient as I right the ship and start calling these games correctly. I’ll give you a little sneak preview on tonight’s game……..Cards winning tonight 8-4.
