Haha…What’s with the double clutch? I almost had a bad, bad, vision…Hard fought W for 5 in a row.
April 19, 2026 at 4:26 pm #305355It was not pretty, but the Redbirds got it done. Nice to see a five-game win streak. Bring on the Marlins!
April 19, 2026 at 4:27 pm #305356Expect 2 innings out of the pen from Fernandez tomorrow due to fatigue from everyone else. Hopefully we score a lot!
13-8 is a pretty darn good start. Lots of close games, great record in extra innings, and quite a few comebacks thus far.
April 19, 2026 at 4:27 pm #305357Th Cardinals and the Cubbies with the two longest W streaks in the Big Leagues at 5. The Mets have now placed 11 consecutive games in the wrong column. Baseball’s fun today!
April 19, 2026 at 4:28 pm #305358Today’s game I had that old feeling in my gut when I really cared. Not fun. Not exiting. Just cared.
April 19, 2026 at 4:30 pm #305359Whew! May needs to pitch very deep tomorrow.
jnevel–
Could be Svanson for the two instead of Fernandez! 🙂
April 19, 2026 at 4:46 pm #305361The NLC is not for the faint of heart so far.
1. Reds: 14-8
2. Cardinals: 13-8
3. Pirates: 13-9
4. Cubs: 12-9
5. Brewers: 12-9April 19, 2026 at 4:48 pm #305362Din-Din of The Day honors go to the esteemed Osuagec, with a tip of the cap to Rat, Scotty, Cardinal in France, Gags and TD for some mighty tasty competition for the award. Here’s Osuagec’s winning entry:
-Succulent steak on the Blackstone
-Roasted potatoes
-Homemade blueberry banana breadPlayer of The Game goes to O’Brien, with a tip of the cap extended in Libby and Masyn’s direction.
April 19, 2026 at 6:24 pm #305363Was the double clutch waiting for Wetherholt to get to the bag?
April 19, 2026 at 6:35 pm #305364I think so, Bling, but the play seemed to take an eternity to complete and had me desperately reaching for a defibrillator…I wish he’d just tossed it across the IF to 1B for the final out. Altuve can still run.

ParticipantDidnt get to watch today. Had to coach my game today. Nice sweep of the strohs. They are pretty horrible. Even altuve is terrible now. But a sweep is a sweep.
April 19, 2026 at 6:47 pm #305366There’s still a ways to go in April, but if the kiddos keep playing like this, the first month of the ’26 season will be a fun one. I get sucked in real easy…I also have to say that with both the Cardinals and the Reds with a negative -8 run differnetial and sitting at 1st and 2nd place atop the NLC, I nominate none other than the little whiz-kid and Francona for manager of the month…Haha! I’ve never done THAT before.
April 19, 2026 at 6:55 pm #305367Altuve had 3 hits, an RBI and a run scored today, Willie. The HOF 2B’man continues to be a genuine pain in the backside. He can still play. And it’s also my guess that even though the Astros are scuffling at present, they’ll be right in the thick of things in the ALC come Sept. They’re still a vey good baseball team when the majority of their players are up to speed.
April 19, 2026 at 6:58 pm #305368The narrative might yet be saved, depending on how things go through the dog days.
April 19, 2026 at 7:03 pm #305369*Dog Days – July 3 – August 11.
April 19, 2026 at 7:04 pm #305370One thing’s entirely certain concerning the the dog days…It’ll be hot.
April 19, 2026 at 7:07 pm #305371Even up here in the frozen tundra, TD. Dog Days are never cold. I wonder if they have real Dog Days up in the Arctic?
April 19, 2026 at 7:19 pm #305372O’Riley O’Brien, who worked 1.1 IP’ed today and only allowed a solitary single, still hasn’t allowed an ER in 12.1 IP’ed this season gets credited with the W. He also gets tagged with a BS. The Bogsider from Derry took on a bit of a schizo sort of personality today. I like him anyway. He was effective. The WP hurt, but all’s well that ends well.

Participant1tough if altuve had 3 hits im surprised we won. He stands 6 feet off tbe plate. If you just throuw a fast anywhere on outer half plate be couldnt touch it unless he changed that today.
April 19, 2026 at 7:21 pm #305374Haha!…I’m not going up there to find out, Pugs. I hate winter almost as much as I hate shoveling snow.
