Scott (a) didn’t have much on that throw; and (b) seemed to take his time getting the throw off instead of just going for it. If Church eventually becomes CF, I’d think that the difference in arm strength would be part of the story.
On the east coast, the game doesn’t match up with meal times. Just munched on some mixed nuts and plan to get Chinese carryout for dinner.
Only 38 pitches through 3 for Libby.
April 19, 2026 at 1:57 pm #305297Oh boy…..now Gags is throwing his hat into the Din-Din of The Day mix with his mouth watering mixed nut and Chinese food revelation. Not only is this game going to be close, but also our Din-Din of The Day honors…..Burrows now with 4 perfect frames……let’s put a quick end to that in the 5th.
April 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm #305298Lots of good Sunday meals today. For lunch I pulled out the Blackstone and cooked some steaks and roasted some potatoes. For dessert I baked a loaf of blueberry banana bread. Will slice up the leftover steak to make fajitas for dinner.
Burrows pitching like Cy Young so far.
April 19, 2026 at 2:01 pm #305299Just noticed that Gorman, at 14, has about as many RBI as Walker (16) or Burly (15). I thought that might be chances, but with runners in scoring position Gorman has an OPS of .783. He was at .567 last year, .509 the year before. Small N, but maybe a sign he’s doing something different this year?
Winn is at .350, Urias .125, Scott .310.
April 19, 2026 at 2:04 pm #305300Libby looking good as he mows the Stros down in order in the 4th. If not for the Trammel triple, this game would still be in search of it’s first base runner. 1-0 Houston.
April 19, 2026 at 2:08 pm #305301Wooo cowboy….. I think Osuagec just may have propelled himself into the Din-Din of The Day driver’s seat! Dandy of a din-din that’s going to be near impossible to eclipse. Well done Osuagec……well done sir.
April 19, 2026 at 2:14 pm #305302Oh oh looks like we may have ran into a runaway freight train in the person of Mr. Mike Burrows today. He’s perfect through 5…..no he’s not, as with 2 outs Winn raps a grounder in between SS & 3rd and out into left field for the Redbirds first hit on the afternoon. Let this be the first of many Cardinal hits before the last chapter of this game has been written.
And now Church coaxed a walk and the worm may indeed be turning in this one.
Pages an infield single and just like that the bases are bursting with Birds with 2 down.
Come on Scotty!
Scott had him 3-0, but then Burrows came back with 2 strikes and then Scott gets the walk……tie ballgame. Now let’s get him.
JJ whacks a base hit to right and 2 will safely prance across home plate and the wheels have literally come off for Burrows. 3-1 Cards and Burrows is getting yanked. Burrows went from penthouse to outhouse lickity split in this
one.Herrera drills a base hit to left scoring Scott and it’s 4-1 St. Louis.
April 19, 2026 at 2:20 pm #305303Looked like both Walker and Gorman swung at ball 4 on 3-2 counts. Could have been a bigger inning? Regardless, that went from worrying about a perfect game to the pitcher being gone about as quickly as I can imagine.
April 19, 2026 at 2:27 pm #305304Nice to get rid of those perfect game worries. Now let’s pile it on.
April 19, 2026 at 2:32 pm #305305Diaz a leadoff double that will skip off the wall in left, where Church perfectly plays the carom.
Whitcomb fouls out to 1st……and my granddaughter is clamoring to go swim for an hour at the club. Bring home the W gentlemen.
April 19, 2026 at 2:37 pm #305306Huge play by Gorman in an at bat that had me pretty nervous. And I like this Libby we are seeing today.
April 19, 2026 at 2:42 pm #305307I had a yummy sausage breakfast burrito and pretzels for lunch today. Tonight we are having some organic fish sticks with a side of brussel sprouts. I am hoping to be celebrating a Cardinal sweep of the Stros.
April 19, 2026 at 2:43 pm #305308The Cardinals generate all 4 runs with 2 out RBI’s in the 4 run 5th. Them’s my favorite kind.
April 19, 2026 at 2:48 pm #305309Nice play in LF from Church. Can’t hardly get any better execution on the turn and burn throw to the IF.
April 19, 2026 at 2:54 pm #305310This is normally where Liberatore runs out of steam. I wouldn’t hand him the baseball for the 7th unless the Redbirds pad this 4-1 lead in the visitor half.
April 19, 2026 at 3:11 pm #305311Another first rate play in LF from Church to end the 7th. That inning’s pitcher’s been touch and go. I’m happy he’s done.
April 19, 2026 at 3:16 pm #305312Nice RBI chance for Gorman. Need to push Walker across HP and tack on to this 3 run lead.
April 19, 2026 at 3:18 pm #305313WP, PB, base hit, balk, or a Das Boot…I’ll take any and all of ’em to get this run across.
April 19, 2026 at 3:19 pm #305314That won’t get it done.
April 19, 2026 at 3:20 pm #305315Nice play in LF from Church. Can’t hardly get any better execution on the turn and burn throw to the IF.
Kept the dp in order. Without it who knows. And the next catch you mentioned. Is Church ovreall better than Siani? What say you!
April 19, 2026 at 3:24 pm #305316Heck, who knows, KCB. All I know for certain is that the LF and CF positions are going to have to generate some sort of production with the bat. Anything at all would be nice.
April 19, 2026 at 3:26 pm #305317Church is elite. However, 2024 Michael Siani was about as good of a fielder as you will ever see. But Church has a better arm.
There goes Romero’s goose egg of an ERA as Alvarez takes low and inside over the RF wall.
April 19, 2026 at 3:28 pm #305318That’s the first ER allowed between Romero/O’Brien in 23 innings of work. Them Charley Lindbergh taters can often times be sustainable unless Mazeroski mashes ’em. Need to end this 8th.
April 19, 2026 at 3:30 pm #305319Walker’s getting too many looks.
April 19, 2026 at 3:35 pm #305320I thought he’d hand it to Graceffo. The 4 out S is dicey.
