Maybe Matty gets his win today.

I’m sure he’s more than ready.

As we begin games on Sunday, we have the rare reverse Pythagorean in the NL Central. The last shall be first, and the first shall be last.

    Cincy -11
    Cards -10
    Brewers +21
    Pirates +22
    Cubs +28

Now…the Cards and Brewers are tied, but the MLB standings I just looked at have us 2nd on the list. I wonder how often that pattern happens?

Wow, that is unusual. It suggests we have been charmed and as the season progresses it will be Cubs and Brewers battling for the division crown while we slip back to 4th or last.

But you never know. Look up the 1984 Mets and check their record against their projected mark.

I am missing this series as far as watching live as I am working the Rox-Dodgers all weekend. Great game last night. Rox a strike away from a 4-3 win, but a single brought none other than Ohtani up. He singled – first and third. But they got the third out to hold on to the “W”.

Not sure whatever happened to Tommy Edman. Seems like since the wrist injury he had with us he is not on the field much.

Din-din today will be a ribeye steak in the air fryer, some Nathan’s Jumbo Crinkle Cut french fries, a bowl or two of Turkey Hill Old Fashioned Vanilla ice cream, and a slushy Mt. Dew. First bite is about the same time as first pitch. And me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for this one along with a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar.

A din-din truly fit for a king of great distinction, Rat. Immediately upon Houston concluding their 3rd out in the bottom of the 9th, I’ll be sidestepping my way over to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse, where I’ll be opting for the healthy route on this fine Sunday afternoon in America’s Dairyland. Stepping up to the plate first will be some scrumptious Italian sausage filled mushrooms. Stirring in the on-deck circle will some butter ladden asparagus spears, followed by a tasty Walforf salad. Then to put the finishing touches on this dandy din-din, it’ll be a trip over to the drive-thru lane at Popeye’s to snag myself not 1……not 2…….but 3 of their marvelous apple cinnamon pies.

Saggese last appeared Tuesday. Is he banged up or what?

Not sure about Saggesse but I just checked on Nolan Arenado.

He is hitting .214 with three home runs on the year.

    Bikemike–

The Cards have give up at least 9 runs in 5 of their 20 games. The Brewers have only done that once (and in extra innings). The Cubs have done it twice. Our middle relief is a particular weakness, so could be that when our starters have a bad day it will get compounded. But we’d probably lose those games anyway. Maybe?

    Bling-

Saggese’ OPS is a tick worse than Church’s. Church has better D. Saggese is 0-10 with 5 K’s and no walks in his last three games. Church is 5 of 11 in his last three with 3 K’s and a walk. Maybe they want Church to get more reps to see if he can hit better than Scott and eventually take over center? Just a guess.

6 up and 6 down in this one as we head to the 2nd in Houston. An alarming number of primo vacant seats behind home plate.

This being a Sunday, I’m thinking Church will be coming up big in this one.

Good to see Libby get through the inning in 6 pitches. Maybe he can go deep today.

    Pugs-

With seats behind the plate getting so expensive, how much is having a seat a sign of one’s power rather than a result of loving baseball? If a team is doing badly, going to the ballgame is probably not a sign of power, and the ‘Stros haven’t been playing well. Just a guess. We’re living in a time where expense of game makes fair weather fans more common?

Gorman flies out to right, but he looked comfortable at the dish in doing so. Gotta be bullish on this guy.

9 up and 9 down……wouldn’t that be something if we got to 54 up and 54 down.

Joe…..make that Mike Burrows now with 4 whiffs.

Just finished a din din of pork tenderloin and mashed potatoes with pepper sauce and snap beans. Followed that up with a slice of apple pie topped with a scoop of Haagen-Dazs vanilla. Pretty much an American efort ce soir.

Great observation with the primo seats, Gags. I hate seeing good things go to waste. Maybe after a couple innings the ushers should be directed to look the other way with patrons occupying some of those great seats.

When that ball left Cam Smith’s bat, I thought we were definitely looking at a 1-0 Stros advantage. Nice catch by Church.

    12 up and 12 down.

15 up and 15 down. Maybe we are looking at the ever elusive TPG……that’s “Twin Perfect Game” to the baseball layman.

Trammel breaks up the TPG with a ball off the right field wall……he’ll sprint into 3rd and he would have had an inside the park homer if he hadn’t froze at home plate for a few seconds to check on Pages health status…..Pages is ok and Teammel is a very nice compassionate human being.

Sac fly to short center makes it 1-0 Houston. It looked like that throws direction went array when it glanced off the pitching mound.

Very odd play. Agree Pugs Trammel caring limited him to a 3 bagger
