The Doppler Radar shows some scattered showers south of the metro St. Louis area. Looks like this one will probably get in.

Here in SW Indiana it is overcast and we just had a light drizzle.

Sad part is that the Angels and Reds game from Riverfront tonight is the Apple TV game so I cannot get it. Phooey. But Texas plays at the Doyers later tonight though.

    FYI here,
Pittsburgh downs the Cubs 2-0 at Wrigley Field today.

The Cubs will remain in last place.

Those Bucs might be for real.

Like a Tigers’ series, a Red Sox series makes me think of our World Series battles. We have split four Series with these guys, winning the first two (‘46 & ‘67) losing the last two (‘04 and ‘13).

That 2004 match up was particularly hard to take. We had a much better team than we showed in those four games. I think had Chris Carpenter been available, maybe we could have won a game and who knows, perhaps some breaks would have come our way and we could have made it a contest. But with their comeback ALCS win that year maybe it was just destiny and nothing would have changed it.

Like gscottar we often have pizza on Friday night. But I put together a crockpot of red chili today, so that is tonight’s fare. And chili just calls for a cold frosty one to wash it down. We usually make cornbread to go with it and that is the case this evening.

    Go Cards!!

I was going to have bacon and eggs, but changed my mind. Tuna on rye, potato salad and a tall iced tea.

The highlight of that ’04 WS was rookie catcher Yadier Molina springing from behind HP during game 4 and informing the established veteran star Manny Ramirez that if he ever again dared to peak at where the young future HOF backstop was positioning himself behind HP to receive a pitch that there was going to be serious trouble. Molina stood up, threw his mask into the HP area dirt and angrily got right in Manny’s face in front of a nationally televised WS audience and told him he better not do it again. It was entirely obvious that Ramirez wanted no part of Yadier Molina. At that very instant, I not only knew that Yadier Molina possessed a tremendous amount of testicular fortitude, but that he also was destined to be a first rate Big League baseball player. I’ll never forget it.

Molina would have dismantled Ramirez if he’d have said the wrong thing or tried the stunt again.

Another classical Molina moment was during a postgame interview after the 2010 incident with Brandon Phillips and the Reds. Yadier was asked what happened and he replied, “He call my team bad names and then want to be my friend. I tell him he not my friend”…Haha!

Bases loaded nobody out you want to get more than one run.

Looking real good after 3 IP’ed in this turn for May. He’s already lowered his ERA to a bit above 11.00. Keep ’em coming.

1st and 3rd with one out, we will see if he gets out of it or melts down.

That half inning was a debacle.

Not only a bad decision to throw through, but also to throw home. No chance to get him at HP and they had the other baserunner in an almost assured rundown out.

Down to 10.22 for May. The benefits that come from a few innings of decent work are amazing.

I doth think a couple of you misunderstood…

I had thought I had made it clear that there is no way May has a John Tudor 1985 season.

My point was…as with Tudor (as well as many others)…it is way, way too premature to write off May and his 2026 season. Tonight was a nice start…let’s all hope he can keep it up.

This pitcher weissert, has some nasty stuff. If he could locate it routinely, he would be practically unhittable.
