We had a nice day facing lefties, but our pitching wouldn’t hear of it.

    And that’s a loser.

Bottom of the 9th was a wimper. Sounds like Atlanta was bad in 1-run games this year prior to this series.

Welp this team is really flat right now. It appears to me that unless Ivan Herrera comes out of the gate after the break with both guns blazing you guys wanting a selloff are going to get your wish.

The sad thing about a selloff is that they don’t have anybody worth a hoot to sell. They would get very little in return.

Well that was no good. But with Fedde starting you figure to lose, although the bullpen did not hold up in this one either.

Being an investor, Fedde a kind of like a stock you get where it looks undervalued. You think maybe you can make some money on it, and it does go up for awhile but then comes back down to below where you bought it. You are like, “Darn, should have sold that while I had a little equity.” Now you don’t know what to do, sell at a loss and figure your losses are minimized, or hang on in the hopes it will rebound some.

Unless we are buying starting pitching, they were always sellers, many years running.

Looking to next year, and perhaps even later this year, I think Herrera will given a shot to be the 2026 right fielder. Walker will likely be dealt, which would be a bit risky as you could be making a “Lou Brock” type trade where a guy just blossoms later. But if they can work with Ivan as an outfielder I think that is the direction management will pursue.

Actually that was a pretty good game. Unfortunately, the wrong team won. Zut alors!

Seems like we are figuring out ways to lose! At least we will be above 500 at the break! I would sell anyone who might get us a top 20 prospect! Maybe Arenado, Contreras, Helsley for sure! I would keep Gray unless we got a sweet deal for him! Gorman might draw a decent prospect! We need to cut bait and start over! This team is going nowhere without major changes! I’ve given up trying to figure out how to do them! So has out FO!

Yeah Mike I understand why they invested in Fedde last year. It made sense at the time. He was an innings eater who was cheap. He was much cheaper than Mikolas and half the price of Lynn and Gibson. And they were ready to cash in on Edman because he was about to get expensive and had been hurt all year.

Of course in true Cardinal fashion Edman goes on to win NLCS MVP and Fedde stopped getting people out. I really don’t know what they can get for him now but I guess we will find out in about two weeks.

I think you missed the memo where a good portion of those players listed ask to not be dealt or have NTC’s

Even then you’re not getting much out of the obvious group of Fedde, Matz, Gorman and Helsley. You might get a top 15-20 for Helsley and some low level fireballer. Matz and Fedde we’ll have to eat salary.

You say mail it in but we don’t have much to mail away unless our ace and our vet leaders give the ok. Gray and Nado makes a ton of money and we’\\ have to eat a lot of it. They don’t seem inclined to do so.

I keep forgetting about Maton. You’d like to have a closer in hand if you deal yours but if we end up selling they could get a decent haul for him. Nothing great but someone might overpay.

Also consider someone might see something we don’t with Fedde and have us pay off some contract for a lower prospect. Think a team with rotation issues who needs an arm to fill the back end.

Considering how guys like Mikolas, Fedde and Pallante have struggled and asked for their ouster. Our pal Marty Blake has seen his fair share of criticism a couple seasons ago. However like with Oli he’s been given what has been offered up to him.

If we got a good return for Helsley I would give O’Reilly a shot at closer. He has good stuff and seems like a guy who could succeed there.

858, think you missed the memo! We aren’t getting anything for Fedde or Mikolas! I think it’s much more likely Arenado or Contreras agree to trade to go to a contender than it is we get anything for Fedde! I guess we will see in a couple of weeks!
