jj-cf-stlParticipantWith our lefty bats helping, we can handle facing a fourth lefty today, if they have one.
July 12, 2025 at 3:13 pm #287086I thought Matheny’s BP management lousy at times, but I also thought that many of his inane and inexperienced moves were magnified by the fact that he was preceeded by a manager who was one of, if not the best, BP maestros in the history of the game. The singlemost BP Matheny disaster that I clearly recall was when he handed Michael Wacha the baseball in the 9th inning of a tie game during game 5 of the ’14 NLCS. At that time, Wacha hadn’t faced a Big League hitter during live action for over 3 weeks due to an injury. When Brandon Belt took him deep to end the game and the series, I wanted Matheny to be fired on the spot…Haha!
July 12, 2025 at 3:14 pm #287087He’s the SP’er version of Brett Cecil.
Haha, please don’t bring up those memories. Besides, I’m pretty sure Fedde is a much better bargain on a “dollars per runs yielded” basis.

jj-cf-stlParticipantI haven’t heard why Noot was pulled. Anyone know?
July 12, 2025 at 3:17 pm #287089He’s been dealing with sore ribs. But I don’t know for certain.

Not that it matters because it was still a gut punch, but Ishikawa hit the walk off.
July 12, 2025 at 3:20 pm #287091And now the Braves take the lead off Maton.
July 12, 2025 at 3:21 pm #287092We needed Wilt Chamberlain in left field to stop that last homer. Who put Fermin out there instead?
July 12, 2025 at 3:21 pm #287093
jj-cf-stlParticipantCenter cut mistake.
July 12, 2025 at 3:23 pm #287094
jj-cf-stlParticipantIf we can at least tie it, we have last bats in case of extras.
July 12, 2025 at 3:26 pm #287095#STLCards LF Lars Nootbaar was removed from the game with "left side discomfort," per the club. Nootbaar has struggled with rib pain and an intercostal strain for several weeks.

Yep, bad move by somebody. Sounds like you’re thinking up Charlie Finley’s alley. Need to employ a 7-footer as a late inning homerun-robbing defensive replacement, a la Herb Washington who was Finley’s designated base runner/stealer.

jj-cf-stlParticipantDom should enjoy two Manneys in the game!
July 12, 2025 at 3:36 pm #287098Bases loaded, 2 outs, with Gorman up.
July 12, 2025 at 3:38 pm #287099
jj-cf-stlParticipantReally, really nice plate discipline by Saggese. That’s good to see J.
July 12, 2025 at 3:38 pm #287100Wild pitch then a strikeout….6-6
July 12, 2025 at 3:39 pm #287101
jj-cf-stlParticipantGorman K.
Got ‘er tied boys.July 12, 2025 at 3:40 pm #287102Another great at bat by Saggese. Coaxes a walk to load the bases and we get the wild pitch before Gorman inevitably strikes out.
I don’t love the switch of Hampson for Burleson. This lineup doesn’t have a lot of thump as it is.

Yea, he was too anxious early in the count and got in a hole, but then did what you like to see with a wild pitcher on the mound.
July 12, 2025 at 3:41 pm #287104
jj-cf-stlParticipantMaalox left, quickly, I need a hit.
July 12, 2025 at 3:42 pm #287105This umpire has been all over the place for both teams on what is a ball or strike.
July 12, 2025 at 3:43 pm #287106
jj-cf-stlParticipantAnd he’s mad at us (Willson)
BwahahaJuly 12, 2025 at 3:46 pm #287107Well, it’s not a blown save when you come in for a tie game . . .
July 12, 2025 at 3:47 pm #287108Helsley’s fastball has been hit hard all year. I’m not shocked he gave up a run.
We are going to need another rally.
July 12, 2025 at 3:49 pm #287109Yea, you really didn’t want Helsley to give the guy a chance to put it in play on an 0-2 count
