Re: Matz to the pen, helps contend?

The flip side is, if the FO wants to be buyers, why is Mikolas still in the rotation? ($$$)

And also, every time we slot Matz as a SP he goes IL. A 2nd lefty is helpful because King is a mop-up arm, and Libby left the pen. Its difficult to disagree with Matz’s limited IP, vs him going IL.

I just read where Mikolas has been invited to pitch in the Home Run Derby.

Things happen in a hurry in the game of baseball. This past Sunday the Cardinals were 9 games over even and 2.5 games off the pace in the NLC. If ever there was a single game that could foretell an entire collapse, today’s at Wrigley would be it.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that McGreevey gives us a better shot than Mikolas or Fedde! The only people in the whole dang world who don’t see it happen to be housed in our FO! As Charlie Brown would say, Good Geief!

Yeah, you fully expect either one of them to take a first rate beating each time they take their turn.

A totally “Busch” league comment, Rat! But enormously humorous too……well played, Ratster. Greg Maddux in 1994 surrendered only 4 home runs all season over 202 innings. Hard to believe our pitchers doubled that in just 8 innings today. For me, as much as I would love to, it will be impossible to erase this canker sore of a game from my memory. Even 10-20 years from now, if I hear the name “Miles Mikolas”, this game today will immediately come to mind…….and sadly for Miles, this may be his legacy.

Miles has pitched some great games as a cardinal. Sure hes def on the downside now but i appreciate what he has done.

There is definitely less popping out of the pipe than there is dropping off the cliff. I have my fingers crossed hoping the revamped development system will be productive, especially as to producing some impact types. We have some pretty good filler, but that can generally be found anyway. Or at least bought with Bill money. We need difference makers. It will take a few years to get there, if we get there.

I couldn’t get on the members forum just now even though I am logged in. I’m paid up as far as I know.

Bling, sometimes when you try to access the members forum without having logged in first, it blocks you for an hour or so even after you log in. I have encountered this bug several times myself using Chrome. I apologize for the problem.

I recall Mikolas first season being really good and then him being average at best since then.

He got paid and then he got average (or worse) or hurt is my recollection.

Yes Mikolas is a free agent after this year.
