And eventually allows the White Sox to cut into the lead with a run.
June 17, 2025 at 8:13 pm #284987Bader just hit a ball to deep right near the top of the wall that Fraley jumped for, had the ball go off his glove, and over the fence for a 3-run homer. Twins now lead the Reds 5-4.
The Twins got four runs in the 6th, all unearned. A two out error by Encarncion-Strand opened the two out flood gates.
June 17, 2025 at 8:13 pm #284988Liberatore now working under the immense pressure of a slim 4 run lead…
June 17, 2025 at 8:22 pm #284989It might not be too long before Rat will have no choice but to acknowledge that Donovan is the only player that the Cardinals have that can hit a little bit…
June 17, 2025 at 8:25 pm #284990All jokes aside, he’s 4 for 4 and it’s only the 6th, so he’ll have a decent chance at a 5 hit game. If he does, it’ll be the second time he’s done it in the Big Leagues.
June 17, 2025 at 8:30 pm #2849921TD, I think before long Rats will have to say the same about Herrera in addition to Donny. I know Rats doesn’t think Herrera will keep batting over something like .250, but I consistently see a guy with a plus hit tool who does a good job of making solid contact, doesn’t swing out of the zone, swings at pitches he can damage, and does a good job of spraying the ball across the field.
June 17, 2025 at 8:31 pm #284993They hopefully do not send Libby back out there. Good start from him, but with a 6 run lead and he has already pitched 6 good innings, it isn’t worth sending him back out there. Let him get some rest on his arm.
June 17, 2025 at 8:32 pm #284994Make that a 7 run lead with a Burly HR. Shady is smiling somewhere. I’m still not convinced Shady wasn’t Burly grandpa
June 17, 2025 at 8:35 pm #284995I just happened to see that Judge has collected 199 TB’s in 71 games. That’s a lot of bases for that many games. The season record is 457, which was accomplished in 1921 by Babe Ruth in 152 games.
June 17, 2025 at 8:43 pm #284997Yeah, Albert, Herrera’s obviously doing real good too, but he’s sitting at more than 100 less AB’s than Donovan.
June 17, 2025 at 8:46 pm #284999That Judge guy strikes out in 24.7% of his PA. Doesn’t seem that great to me. Joking aside Judge’s current season is looking to go in the record books as one of the best. He already accomplished that feat last year and in 2023, so he is looking at probably the best non Barry Bonds 5 year stretch of baseball since integration.
June 17, 2025 at 8:47 pm #285001Yeah 1TD he definitely needs to keep it up for more PA. Numbers will fluctuate, but Herrera is passing the eye test for me to be a .270-.280 career hitter.
June 17, 2025 at 8:54 pm #285002Yes, Donovan can hit. He’s a somewhat high average hitter. But he doesn’t exactly strike fear into the opposition. He should be a #2 hitter. I mean batting 2nd in the lineup.
June 17, 2025 at 8:56 pm #285004Burleson conjuring up a LH’ed Vlad…I can’t recall the last time I saw a LH’ed hitter rip a pitch that was nose high for a base hit.
June 17, 2025 at 9:00 pm #285005He’s collected quite a few doubles this season, Rat, but I agree that he’s a prototypical 2 slot hitter. A couple of seasons ago they did their best to ruin him by encouraging him to generate the type of power that he’s not built to produce.
June 17, 2025 at 9:03 pm #285006Yeah, Albert, I stopped bothering to look at the season hitting leaders. The entire page simply says, “Judge”…Haha!
June 17, 2025 at 9:05 pm #285007Donny, Burly and Herrera…….you don’t deal.
Another spot on pre-game weather report from Rat. Our weather people up here are pretty darn unreliable. Rat? Would you ever consider analyzing your Doppler radar and other meteorological charts to give me a daily forecast for the greater Milwaukee and Madison regions?
And how about Steve60. Our boys remain undefeated in games in which he attends. I’m thinking maybe we start a Go Fund Steve60 page so that Steve60 can criss-cross around the country attending Cardinal games…….and no Super8 hotels for Steve. Let’s get him 5 star hotels and the finest of restaurants so that he totally is keyed in on keeping the Redbirds winning.
June 17, 2025 at 9:08 pm #285008Scott rips a 2 run bomb to right…..let’s hope they don’t put an asterisk on that homer.
June 17, 2025 at 9:08 pm #285009Herrera with a 4 RBI game. For a while it seemed like he pushed a run across HP every time he took a swing. He was on pace with Hack Wilson…
June 17, 2025 at 9:14 pm #285014Sheesh, quite a blow out. The infamous “position player pitcher” on for the Sox. You would think with teams carrying 13 pitchers they would not need to use a position player to hurl.
I have been playing a “St Louis” tournament on my computer baseball game while watching the Cardinals games of late, so have not commented much on the game threads. In the off season I will share the results of my tournament. Kind of similar to what Rats does with Strat-O-Magic, I am playing a tournament with the best Cardinals, and one Browns team, in St Louis history.
June 17, 2025 at 9:55 pm #285016Yeah, when I was growing up the standard number of pitchers that teams carried on a WS roster was 9 or 10. And during the ’82 WS the Cardinals only used 8 arms during those 7 games.
June 17, 2025 at 10:32 pm #285017Great game to be at! I found in interesting that our three best hitters Donovan, Herrera, and Burleson really showed out tonight! I’m guessing our team average without those guys is well under 230! Was thinking maybe we should bat the big 3 in order! 2, 3rd and 4th or 3, 4 and five! They could cause real problems IMO!
June 18, 2025 at 1:47 am #285018Nice wakeup this morning! After breakfast I’ll go downstairs, crank up the MLB replay and enjoy the Cardinal hit fest (who are those guys Rat?)
June 18, 2025 at 8:23 am #285024Steve, just for reference, the team batting average without Donovan, Burleson and Herrera is .238. The league average batting average is .245.
