KCB, before the start of these last 4 series, you had the team going 6-6 and I have them 7-5. So far they are 7-4, but hopefully they can beat my prediction and win tomorrow to make it an 8-4 run against 4 good teams.
The Reds lead the Cubs 2-1 in the 3rd at Riverfront Stadium.

This Cardinal team is not the most talented in the league by far but they are scrappy I will give them that.
Decided to join Rats and dial up the Reds-Cubs. Really wanted to get out on the bike for a ride, but it’s windy and overcast here so I am kinda stuck indoors.

I never took notice of that either, Bikemike. I’m sure you’ll recall that Busch Memorial had more than plenty of foul territory and coupled with the 386 ft. power alleys was, along with a good fastball, a pitcher’s best friend. But I’ll never forget the first time I saw a all of the foul territory between the base lines and the field boxes at Oakland Coliseum on a TV braodcast. The area looked almost as expansive as the OF. In any case, I’ll have to remember to check out the ballpark in Cincinnati the next time the Cardinals visit.
A tad close but we got it in the end. Walker redeems himself with a clutch hit.

Hey Rat. Be very careful in going back to that factory to swipe additional gravel for your driveway potholes. You may want to take Whitey HerDog with you as an additional look-out. She could also come in handy if the fuzz get you guys cornered and they sic their police dog on you. One bat of Whitey HerDog’s baby brown eyes and that big German Shepherd would turn all of his attention towards her, thus allowing a clean getaway for you.
These Diamondbacks are absolutely ripe to get swept. I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t complete the sweep tomorrow afternoon, thus giving us another winning 6 game homestand.
The Cardinals are once again at their season high water mark of 6 over even. It’s the third time this season that they’ve attained that mark, so if the Redbirds can hang a W on the board in tomorrow’s game they’ll have boasted their best W/L record of the ’25 season at 7 games above even. For one reason or another, I like to measure headway concerning W/L records in units of 5, and with a sweep of the Dbacks this weekend, the Cardinals will have given me reason to believe that they’re reasonably capable of achieving the next benchmark of success of 10 games over even.
Jimmy Wynn was a hitter ahead of his time. He would upper cut the pitch and get that wide launch angle to drive home runs. Back then no one talked about “launch angle” or anything like that, but Wynn hit like they preach guys to do today – hit the ball in the air.
I always thought Jimmy had a cool nickname, but I can’t recall Wynn getting nearly as much attention or air time back then as he does now. I think the reason may be because it seemed like hitters needed to hit somewhere near .300 back then to be labeled as a good hitter. A guy who hit .250 back then normally wasn’t afforded the title of a star or first rate hitter. As a personal example, anytime I thought of a good hitter who wore an Astros uniform back then, the first name that always came to mind was Staub. He was the guy I was afraid of when he stood in against Gibson. I was aware of Wynn also, but he was an afterthought.
