The Doyers lead the Athletics 15-2 in the 5th inning tonight at Doyer Stadium. Watubi has hit two homeruns so far. He’s now tied with Schwarber for the ML lead.The Royals seem to be having trouble scoring runs with only 154 on the season, but they also limit the offensive production of their opponents having allowed only 148 runs. I happened to check on attendance in KC and it looks to be skinny when taking into consideration that the Royals had a pretty decent season in ’24 and advanced to the second round of the ’24 AL post-season after qualifying for a WC. In any case, we’ll get to see a player who I feel is in the top 3 players in either league when Witt Jr. walks on to the playing field. I wish we had an outstanding young player like him on our team. There’s not any area of the game in which he doesn’t excel and, in my view, he illustrates a baseball player that’s destined for greatness. And I don’t know if we’ll see Michael Wacha take a turn, but I happened to notice that he’s quietly putting together an impressive career and currently boasts a lifetime W/L record of 104-66. That’s a .612 clip.
We’re facing another lefty starter, which would be 4 of the last 5 games.
Will Oli continue his handedness platooning trend, with Herrera/Walker starting and Burly/Gorman sitting?
Scott has started 3 of the last 4 games vs a lefty starter. I’m enjoying Oli pushing Victor to be an everyday player.
Andre is coming off a fine outing vs the Nats facing 27 batters with a 0/7 bb/k.
I think Scott and Herrera have played their way into starting everyday regardless of handedness. JMO. Offensively Walker has struggled even in platoon role. Burly has picked it up enough offensively. I just don’t want wearing a fielding glove.
Just checked the Doppler Radar for the Kansas City area. Looks like there might be some green stuff heading towards KC later in the afternoon. Looks like it might be coming in from the north. Hopefully this one will get played with no delays.
We are supposed to have severe weather here in SW Indiana tonight.
And as soon as I hit send I am going to the Amish restaurant out on the lake and having some Catfish Fiddlers! Yes indeed, it is definitely a CCFF!

As 1TD said Witt Jr. is indeed a great player. But I am not sure we don’t have an exciting young player like that. We might have a guy who is close with a similar last name and they play the same position. Masyn Winn is looking like a kid with a great future.
Yeah, Bikemike, Winn looks like he’s going to be the Cardinal SS for quite some time. I’ve never seen a Cardinal SS that was equipped with a right arm as impressive as is Winn’s. When he loads it up and really shows it off, it’s a genuine jaw dropper. However, at this stage, I’d swap Winn for Witt. I might even throw in a Manny Motter…Haha!
Coming to a ballpark near you very soon, Scott & Winn should be consistently hitting 1-2 instead of 7-8 or 8-9. And it may very well stay that way for the next decade or so if the powers that be have the foresight…..and the willing pocketbook to lock these two gems up longterm. The potential is there to out-achieve the terrific tandem of Coleman & Herr…….though the later’s 100 rbi season will be a tough mark to best. Offensively speaking, Scott will evolve into a much better all around hitter than Vince, with Vince being the better base stealer. I loved Tommy, but Winn could definitely end up having the better career between the two……anyway, on to more important matters, Rat is most likely downing a healthy plate of the Fiddlers as we speak. I’m heading out to this little restaurant on Lake Wisconsin in a couple of hours to enjoy a plate of the Fiddlers myself. I think I’ll toss some waffle fries, coleslaw and fresh white bread heavily laden with butter into the equation and call it a dynamic din-din. And let us not forget dessert. On the drive home, I’ll swing on through a Popeye’s restaurant and rustle myself up 3 scrumptious apple cinnamon pies. If you guys haven’t tried these then you absolutely do not know what you’ve been missing. Do you remember mom’s or grand mama’s homemade apple pie? Delicious yes? Well Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies are like 10 times more tasty.
And in ’87 he pushed across 83 RBI’s on 2 taters. Tommy Herr was an outstanding 2B’man who would have been awarded numerous GG’s if not for a contemporary named Sandberg. A similar situation was once present over in the AL with Graig Nettles who brought an outstanding mitt with him to 3B, only to be outshined by a guy named Brooks.
Some really bad weather in the St. Louis area. Looked like a tornado had hit St. Louis.
We are currently under a tornado warning here in SW Indiana. At least according to the IPhone.

April 18, 1987: Seat cushions fly as Tommy Herr, Cardinals slam Mets in extras
No discussion of Tommy Herr is complete without this little gem!
Yeah, that seat cushion night celebration is a classic!
On the din-din front, we are heading to a local brew pub as our favorite burger truck is there this evening. They have these potato sides that are cut in wedges and seasoned “to die for” as the Lovely Lady Bike says.
We go to Popeyes now and then (one of my dad’s favorite place by the way – they don’t have one in my hometown in Wyoming and he would make a point to hit one when down here), but have never gotten a dessert. Next time we go, the Apple pies will be part of our order.
Din-din. Grits and shrimp with garlic bread. Make the scampi than stir in the grits with all the butter and garlic you sautéed the shrimp in. Big cup of Starbucks kcup with some frozen pretzels covered with dark chocolate. I am Friday prepped for a V!

Apparently southern Illinois is getting hammered as I type this.
We are in a Tornado Watch until around 11:00 eastern.
I’d forgotten that the Royals picked up Jonathon India from the Reds last offseason. He hasn’t really exceeded the performance of his NL ROY season of ’21, but I always liked him at 2B and I think he’ll pan out as a good trade for the Royals.
