Looks like the Cardinals are going to have to win this game to keep pace in the NLC because after being shutout by the Brewers yesterday, the Cubbies are again scoring lots of runs as they lead the Giants 9-2 in the home half of the 8th at Wrigley. The Cubs lead the entire Big Leagues in runs scored by a sizeable margin.

Wouldv’ve been nice to add some padding to the 3 run cushion, but I feel reasonbly comfortable going into the visitor half. Hand it to the closer.

First hitter on again vs Helsley. This is a continuous pattern.

I’ll be intersted to see what the box score reads regarding attendance.

Reality was about 5000-6000 butts in seats by my estimation. Paid attendance probably triple that though.

Reynolds hits one that goes maybe 10 feet foul of the pole.

This is not the same Helsley. Needs to find himself again.

That was a genuine Big League fastball for the W.

Ted Williams would’ve had trouble with that down and away 102 mph heat.

6 runs is a fine crooked number.

Way to bring home a W, Jnevel! Redbirds pull to within 2 games of even. That’s as good as it’s been since April 18th in Queens. I’m going to celebrate with a slice of carrot cake and tall glass of ice cold milk!

Another of life’s small pleasures, waking up on a weekday morning to find the Cardinals have notched a win while I was resting my bones from another exhausting day of retirement.
And what’s this nonsense about empty seats and 800 spectators, management says 22,369 fans enjoyed the game with jnevel.
They wouldn’t stretch the truth would they?
    Rah Cardinals!

How in world was a Scott called out at the plate on the challenge? His hand 100% slid in under the tag. It wasn’t even really that close…

The announcers must be barred from making any negative comments because they had nothing to say about it after the call stood.

With replay there is zero excuse to ever miss a call. Sure – live action it can happen regularly but with slow motion replay from several angles?

Good to get a winning streak started. Hopefully it will continue today.
