I can hear the guys from the movie Major League talking about that Pages ball in my head . . .

“That ball wouldn’t have been out of most parks.”

    “Name one.”

    “Yellowstone.”

Contreras numbers would be great – if he was still a catcher.

Well, if Winn stays healthy he should be our SS for a solid decade. Now we just need everything else…

    What a clutch hit there.

That wide throw from Gorman last night destroyed the momentum of the game. Contreras got charged with the error and Liberatore crashed, so you can’t blame all of it on Gorman. I didn’t think he was great at 2B either. That said, this is the first time that Gorman has played 3B since AAA. He might be better a defensively than he looks.

Impressive inning by Leahy. He only threw 2 FB. He was getting people out with his slider sweeper and curveball.

Leahy and Maton both have those pitches.

Maton is a decent comp for Leahy but in what role? Would hate to pigeon hole Leahy at reliever already.

Some have suggested that Leahy could be a starter in 2026. Sounds improbable, but you never know.

    Nice win.

After the Cubs led for 7 innings, the Orioles came back in the eighth inning and took the lead 4-3 and ultimately won the game. Cubs fall 2 games behind the Brewers.

Yeah, the Brewers at 66-44 now feature the best W/L record in the Big Leagues and it’s my guess that we won’t see a team win 100 regular season games in ’25.

McGreevy didn’t crumble when he could have.

Gorman better take some extra ground balls.

I think Jo Jo can close even though he tettered a little bit tonight

Walker took the night off. 23 year olds don’t need nights off…

I hope the offense doesn’t go back to sleep tomorrow.

Gorman has started 12 games at 3rd this year and 19 total. Maybe he was a wee bit rusty. He could get better with more reps. I did think he was that terrible at 2nd either.

Again as with this team. It’s the consistency that really hurts them and him. SP is not great and the lineup lack a true MOTO. It would be nice if Gorman could find his way but I’m afraid he’s too big of a risk to trade the better offensive players we have and rely on him fully next season. If he shows some life the rest of this year you find a trade partner in the off-season unless he’s just unworldly like Mr.Vaughn in Wisconsin the rest of this season. I feel Mr.VAUGHN will revert back to his norms at some point.

I just noticed that Gorman was not charged with an error last night. The scorekeeper must be his mom….

Pugs, Billy Bob hails from Arkansas. There are a lot of Cardinal fans here in the Natural State.

Other Cardinal fans from Hollywood include Jon Hamm, Jenna Fischer, and John Goodman.

Back in the TLR days, I interviewed Billy Bob and John Goodman among others. I missed out on Bruce Hornsby, but did you know that he is a distant relative of the Rajah?

Brian – I have always wondered if Bruce Hornsby had any family ties to the Rajah. Thanks for that info!
