Like him or not, when the final career tally is placed up on the board, Machado may prove to be the far superior 3B’man than Arenado in the context of the ability to generate offensive production. In these last 4 games with the Cardinals, they couldn’t get Machado out as he went 11 for 17 with 5 RBI’s. I’ve always maintained that what the Redbirds really need is a player named Manny…Haha!

It’s not even closd Dom. I reviewed both players careers yesterday. They were pretty close until NA started declining. Machado is going to lap him in war this year. Machado will go down as a much better player. He’s still a legitimate mib. Arenado would be a bench player if not for that contract.

    Only two runs today.

    The last four games this team has scored 0 – 3 – 1 – 2.

The reason they can’t score any runs?

    Anybody want to guess?

Yeah, KCB, I just looked at the simple bottom line career numbers and never peeked at WAR. At 32 years of age, Machado’s generating as much offense as he ever has. He hasn’t seemed to miss a beat. And while Arenado comes with a really nice mitt, Machado’s certainly no slouch on defense as witnessed by a couple of GG awards and the ability to man up at SS. In any case, I’ve been saying for years that you can’t hardly go wrong with a Manny…Haha!

I think it was the third inning where Arenado hit a ball up the middle that the second baseman had to catch backhanded, then spin and throw. If Arenado had been running hard, I think he would have beat the throw to first base. That kind of attitude makes it hard for a team to win. He gets paid 37M in 2026.

Rat, the last 4 games have been 9, 3, 1, 2. You keep skipping over the 9 run game.

To better make your point, it may be more advantageous to go with the last 3 games vs the last 4, Rat. Or you could go with the last 10 games of 2-1-0-9-0-4-6-3-1-3……..that’s an average of a paltry 2.9 runs a game.

Pugs, that should be 2-1-3-9-0-4-6-3-1-3 for an average of 3.2 a game. The team is 13th in the majors at 4.5 runs per game.

He isn’t making that much next year but your point still stands.

Not sure how I arrived at 37M. I guess I got it from ‘memory’. It looks like he gets only
27M next year, of which the Rockies pay 5M.
    Thanks.
