Bling, Herrera was ready with the bat. It was his defense that was questionable. Crooks is supposedly ready with the defense. It’s Crooks’ offense that is questionable. If you could take the best of those two and put them together, you might have a contender for the best catcher in the league.

Part of the process, finding out about the catchers. Maybe Crooks gets a runway Auug/Sept.

This is why this team is what it is.

It’s inconsistent and bowtie was just interviewed by The Cat and pretty much said the same thing. Said he expects nothing to get done by anyone today due to the HOF inductions.

Well so much for our plan of McGreevy of giving us a boost from Fedde…sigh Hopefully today is just a blip on the radar. I’m sure it is.

Not any prettier here in Memphis. Down 6-1 here while getting outhit 10-2.

And the hits keep on a coming…..or in our organization’s case, not coming. When looking at our Cardinals, it’s hard to believe we’re still a notch north of .500……as it has all of the feel of being 15-20 games under .500. I blame that almost solely on our front office….and that we’re still a bit spoiled.

Oh I looked at the Memphis box score. Roycroft getting lit up!

Seriously who will the 5 players be that bring up in September? We already know Fermin and Sagasse will be here. You would think 2 pitchers at least but which ones?

Graceffo, Fernandez, Svanson, and hopefully someone from a trade. Maybe Baker.

Butt ugly game. CB has his work cut out to fix this roster.

Whose runway do they use? I bet the 5 pitchers chosen would be different, after the deadline, depending on who the POBO is.

Cy Kolek sure has silenced our bats today……oh I guess they already were a bit quiet.

Its hard to think of a one tool guy as ‘ready’ in any sense of the term. I agree they have found a use for him, given the lack of RH bats.

Its too bad McGreevy got lit, we need a reason to hope.

I like that they challenged McG w/3 times thru the Diego lineup. This is a much better investment than letting Fedde stay. Two more months from McG starting could say a lot.

…and just like that – no ground was gained, lol

I wonder how the trade deadline is going to play out – Will we make good deals and get value or will we simply get fleeced?

Yeah Bling – against a marginal playoff team McGreevy got curb stomped. I guess maybe he will turn out to be a lot like Liberatore – a not too bad for your 3rd or 4th starter kind of guy?

Cards need 3 better options for starting pitchers and 2 MOTO bats – sigh…..

Granillo is not a 3-inning guy. Never has been. He’s always been most effective when he’s done between 1 inning up to 1 2/3 if he comes in during a partial inning. That’s been my experience with him over the years. But I understand that the pen is tired because our starters keep getting shelled. Andre pitched yesterday too.

That said, he gets through it taking one for the team.

Ha! You know that our top 3 trade options aren’t getting that much in return. So it’ll seem like we got fleeced when they really couldn’t get much of value that’s ready to contribute soon to begin with.

Unless there’s something I’m not seeing them I’m pretty Granillo has a nice comfy, cool bus to Memphis or wherever the Redbirds are next.

Not likely given that pen guys are getting traded in the next couple days. Why lock Granillo at Memphis for 10 days?

What J said, because the week after could be all hands on deck to cover innings.

Bling, you can try to marginalize Herrera’s hitting ability but his OPS+ is 18th in the entire majors for anyone with at least 50 plate appearances. Or 200 plate appearances.

Why pitch him 2+ today? Seems like the bat signal to Memphis in most instances but you could be correct. We could be down 3 bullpen arms and 3-40 man spots. So maybe he doesn’t throw for a couple days.

Love seeming John King in blowouts. Exactly what he’s here for.

Just catching up on the din-din posts 14Nyquist: I guess eating rabbits depends on family tradition. My dad and I used to hunt them, among other things, when I was growing up, nail them up on the wall of the garden shed and skin them for Mom to cook. Guess it must be a dying tradition.

P.S. Sad to say today’s game put me to sleep about half way through.

I’d have to say that today unofficially marks the conclusion of the ’25 Redbird season in the context of having any hope to even sneak in as a second rate WC team. Sitting in 4th place in the NLC at 9 back, and 3.5 games off the pace for the last little crumb of a WC berth, they look all done.
