I agree Albert. Probably O’Brien or Munoz in my opinion. Fernandez could go down as well to work on his mechanics.

Yeah I think Libby showed enough tonight he should be happy with his day. The thing I have wanted to see out of Liberatore is getting 1st pitch strikes and he did that 20 of 27 batters today. If anything, he maybe threw too many strikes in the 2nd inning looking at the pitch locations and would have fared better with a few more out of the zone. 89 pitches with 66 strikes so a 74% strike rate which is actually probably too high.

There’s 39 fans in that ballpark and 6 of them are so loaded they think they’re at a Penguins game…

In the ’64 WS Warwick set a WS record when he reached base in each of his first 4 PA’s as a PH’er. He was called on by manager Johnny Keane to PH a total of 5 times during the 7 games of that WS and reached on 3 singles and a BB in his first 4 PA’s. He singled to reach base off of Al Downing in game 4 and was pushed across HP in front of Kenny Boyer’s GS in that pivotal game. He fouled out off of Jim Bouton in his 5th PH PA to end his streak.

Former Redbird Carl Warwick said so long on April 5th of 2025. He’s up there telling all of the baseball fans the story about the record he set in the 1964 WS…

Well, you have to give them credit for hanging in there and competing with a team that’s undoubtedly ready to establish themselves as a genuine baseball dynasty…

I didn’t start watching until the 4th, but Liberatore actually pitched really good while I was watching.

My bartender told me that what ATM said proves my point that Liberatore should stay in the bullpen. He’s also going to help me write a letter to the Cardinals demanding payment for services rendered. What a happy day for my grandchildren! They’re going to be rich.

Great commentary on Carl Warwick, 1TD. I read something he said to Mickey Mantle years ago, telling Mick that he (Warwick) was a key to the Cardinals winning that Series. He said Mick responded, “You? What did you do?” Warwick explained his pinch hits and how they helped and Mantle realized he did play a clutch role.

As for this club, the race is on to see what falls faster, my IRA or the Cardinals winning percentage. Right now both are on an extended losing streak.

Yeah, Bikemike, so many little things are paramount to winning important baseball games. I always think of LaRussa calling on pitcher Kyle Lohse to PH and lay down a sac bunt in the 10th inning of game 6 of the ’11 WS. If Lohse doesn’t get that sac bunt down, the Redbirds never see the 11th inning and the Rangers win that WS. That little PH sac bunt was just as important as the 11th inning Freese walkoff. Such is what makes the game of baseball the best game ever invented.

It’s good to see Libby getting these opportunities at Matz expense. It took two innings and four runs to get settled in but the next four innings were strong. Build off it.

    Brady Farkas… Fastball on SI:

St. Louis Cardinals’ Pitching Staff Hasn’t Been This Bad in Last 20 Years of Team History

For the last three sesons it took about two weeks to see this happening. Five million card’s fans saw this coming…. surely the FO did also but chose not to do anything about it. The rotation so far has us thinking last place in the NLC…. maybe the NL.

Yeah, they can say they want their up and coming guys to get at-bats in real big league games, to get experience and get evaluated. But of what vaule are those at-bats if most of them are in garbage time, to use a football analogy.

Garbage time works both ways Lou, but the score doesn’t drive those AB’s value either way. The lineup is battling well.

Even when our starter gets blown up, the lineup keeps scoring and trying go get back in it. Some of the recent comebacks have been very enjoyable, even if they fall short. There’s a ton of value there, for me.

Last year I was watching Redbirds lose their 7th or 8th straight game from here in Florida and the camera focuses in on Marmol in the dugout just laughing and joking around and it just occurred to me that I couldn’t see Mike Shildt reveling in the losing streak and further, I was positive if LaRussa’s team had lost 7 straight there would be no smiling, laughing or joking around going on. This season the team seemed so loose, confident and free to start the season but now they seem to have taken on the personality of the feckless one, Mr. Marmol. Seriously? This is the best the Cardinals can do. Marmol is probably in the dugout now in Pittsburgh keeping his hands warm with a nice hot chocolate.
