I wasn’t at all aware of this and I find it to be astounding…Only SIX players in Big League history have ever hit for the cycle 3 times and 2 of them are still active. The two active players are Trea Turner and Christian Yelich. Andre Beltre is also one of the 6 players in history to have hit for the cycle 3 times. None of the other three players are members of the HOF.
April 7, 2025 at 5:37 pm #278931By any chance is it Kenny Boyer?
April 7, 2025 at 5:42 pm #278932It’s 10 games into the season before we play a NL team. For a second there, I thought we were the Browns.
April 7, 2025 at 5:46 pm #278933Haha…Pham’s a Pirate now. It’s funny to think that Pham was involved in the trade that sent the other Tommy to the Dodgers and ended up being a primary reason they won a championship. I think we also ended up with some guy named Fedde who claims to be a SP’er…
April 7, 2025 at 5:52 pm #278934Liberatore was looking pretty good for a second there…

jj-cf-stlParticipantGuys that spin it can be inconsistent if they lose the feel for it. I’d be interested if Kyle sees a shape change to Libbys pitches in this start vs last. That 0-2 double stings.
April 7, 2025 at 6:38 pm #278936You got it Rat…Boyer.Hard to believe Musial, Medwick, Mize, and Bottomly,Hornsby and Cepeda never did
April 7, 2025 at 6:41 pm #278937But…but…I thought Tommy was going blind!??
April 7, 2025 at 6:42 pm #278938I stopped watching the NCAA men’s tournament ages ago for several reasons which primarily had to do with insufferable hyperbole, corporate sponsorship, etc. But I would probably tune in to tonight’s championship game if my old favorite Al McGuire were still around and broadcasting the tournament. Legend has it that when Al was playing in the NBA for the Knicks he pleaded with his coach for playing time with a guarantee that he could stop Cousy…He promptly fouled the legendary Celtic point guard the next six times down the court…Haha!
April 7, 2025 at 6:48 pm #278939I’ve been saying for three years that Liberatore should stay in the bullpen, but nobody on the field or in the front office would listen to me. And what’s worse is that I made my recommendation with no expectation of compensation. I feel completely misunderstood and unappreciated. First chance I get, I’m going to have a good, long talk with my bartender about this.
April 7, 2025 at 6:50 pm #278940I feel you Mud.
April 7, 2025 at 6:54 pm #278941Carl Warwick gone…have not heard his name spoken for decades
April 7, 2025 at 6:56 pm #278942Liberatore was looking pretty good for a second there…
He’s been pretty consistent for his entire Cardinal career, with an era around 5.00. Presumably they think there is some upside, but by the time it manifests itself, he’ll be a free agent and unsignable, for a small market club.
April 7, 2025 at 7:01 pm #278943If you wanted them to listen to your sound and shrewd advice, you should have demanded first rate monetary compensation in the form of a handsome salary accompanied by all of the excessively extravagant perks that go along with an executive position with a Big League baseball team. You know, first rate hotel accommodations, 5 star restaurants, complimentary high grade hookers, etc. It’s the only language these guys are willing to listen to, Mud…
April 7, 2025 at 7:05 pm #278944That’s right…Fight for that baseball!
April 7, 2025 at 7:08 pm #278945Well, he worked 5 full innings.
April 7, 2025 at 7:15 pm #278947Warwick’s a WS record holder. Anyone know what record he set?
April 7, 2025 at 7:17 pm #278948The collision on the foul ball made Bozo mad enough to tater up…4-2!
April 7, 2025 at 7:17 pm #278949
jj-cf-stlParticipantLol, throws a guy out and hits a HR, awesome.
April 7, 2025 at 7:21 pm #278950Yeah, if he keeps that up, I’m going to have to be more careful when I type his name…
April 7, 2025 at 7:22 pm #278951Need a hint Dom…good record or bad record for Carl?
April 7, 2025 at 7:47 pm #278953I didn’t start watching until the 4th, but Liberatore actually pitched really good while I was watching. He was attacking hitters and locating his pitches. The results weren’t great considering the overall 5 ER in 6 1/3rd, but at least he pitched into the 7th. That was very needed with the short pen.
April 7, 2025 at 7:48 pm #278954The line will show Liberatore gave up 5 earned runs. He was much better than that tonight. The 2nd inning was messy but it started with an infield single. If he gets an out there and Roycroft doesn’t just hand the Pirates the runner Libby left on first, then it’s easily just 2 runs given up instead of 5. He had good movement and looked strong. I know I was impressed.
April 7, 2025 at 7:50 pm #278955Roycroft is probably catching a bus to Nashville tomorrow for the Redbirds Sounds series with Loutos or O’Brien taking his place. The team needs some fresh arms and Roycroft has options.
April 7, 2025 at 7:50 pm #2789567-2 Pirates now in the 7th.
This series has sweep written all over it.
Early returns indicate the Redbirds are going to be pretty bad.
