They’ve gone hard for strikeout guys with the hope they can fix the walks eventually.
An issue is that nobody fixes their walks while they are sidelined on the IL.
August 23, 2026 at 2:38 pm #316953I’ll make my prediction for who replaces Dobbins in the rotation. Since the Cards have a new throwaway toy in Fleming, who is pitching for Memphis today i say he will be Shuster 2.0, 3.0 or 4.0. He actually has pitched well at AAA this year, well, except for today. Even so, he gave 5 innings.
August 23, 2026 at 5:00 pm #317005That’s not a bad guess, 27.

cardsfan64ParticipantThe #STLCards are calling up Nolan Gorman ahead of tonight's game, per @jmjones
Masyn Winn (thumb) is expected to hit the IL as the corresponding move

August 27, 2026 at 10:22 am #317365Cardinals have selected Cade Winquest from Memphis. Peter Strzelecki goes on the IL with right forearm extensor inflammation. 40-man is full.

August 28, 2026 at 9:23 am #317435Shouldn’t Clemente be promoted? Maybe they don’t want to mess up the Springfield chemistry? That team seems to have something special going on. Or maybe they don’t want teams an idea of taking him in the Rule 5 draft, if there is one.
August 28, 2026 at 9:25 am #317436I believe Clemente, Mendoza, and Rincon can be minor league free agents.
August 28, 2026 at 2:01 pm #317454
cardsfan64ParticipantThe info I saw says Rincon and Mendoza are free agents unless re-signed but Clemente is only Rule 5 eligible. Not saying this info is gospel, but just what I saw.
August 28, 2026 at 2:13 pm #317455Clemente/Mendoza sounds like a lecture presentation regarding the entire range and scope related to the art of hitting a baseball. And all the points in between…
August 28, 2026 at 4:10 pm #317462I’m seeing Blaze to IL and Saggese up.

August 29, 2026 at 11:13 am #317515I’m all for that move. Get a young guy in there to build experience rather than Ferguson who won’t be with the team next year
August 30, 2026 at 2:31 am #317546Free Hancel Rincon.
August 30, 2026 at 10:47 am #317553I was wondering before if Memphis would add players from Springfield due to 1 week gap between their regular season ends. If the timing is right it could happen that a Doyle or Rodriguez promotion would happen. But after Brian pointed out the recent records of both of our top 2 farm teams. Memphis has struggled in the last month, while Springfield has florished. And Memphis lost key contributors like Baez, Mathews, and Gastelum.
Now I am curious about the the flip side of Springfield getting Peorias best remaining prospects. Possibly Clarke or Odle could provide a valuable arm. Worley has had a good year, and would be helpful. If they need an infielder maybe Flores might be a thought. But I am thinking an injury would have to happen before any additions might be considered. I think their series are best of 3;which would affect getting any new players.August 30, 2026 at 1:07 pm #3175671982 willie
ParticipantWell wetherholt on disabled list, wonder who is replacing him.
August 30, 2026 at 1:46 pm #317570The #STLCards have placed JJ Wetherholt (right wrist tendinitis) on the 10-Day Injured List.
Cesar Prieto (#31) recalled from Memphis (AAA).

August 30, 2026 at 3:21 pm #317575Prieto has a negative ML OPS+. How can it be negative and how can things get any more wretched?
August 30, 2026 at 4:26 pm #317579
cardsfan64ParticipantRHP Yhoiker Fajardo (AA) & RHP Jack Martinez (A+) have been reinstated from the Development List.

August 30, 2026 at 4:59 pm #317580Any chance Mendoza gets a chance if Prieto continues to fail. Is Prieto AAAA? Why not give guys an audition? Rincon I’d like to see too. We just need another roster spot to try out both. Saggesse has not impressed so far. He actually hasn’t done much at AAA.
August 30, 2026 at 5:00 pm #317581I’d actually release Stanek. Let him get picked up by a contender before the month of September.
August 30, 2026 at 6:34 pm #317584I still don’t understand the negative OPS+. He’s not taking runs off the board. Not making layups in his own basket.
August 30, 2026 at 7:05 pm #317586bb asked:
Prieto has a negative ML OPS+. How can it be negative and how can things get any more wretched?
Here is the formula. The worst possible is a negative 100. That would be if the player has a zero OBP and zero SLG.
OPS+ = 100 * (OBP/lgOBP + SLG/lgSLG – 1)
-100 = 100 * (0 + 0 -1)
My understanding is that they chose the formula to multiply by 100 so the OPS+ is always a whole number.
August 30, 2026 at 7:54 pm #317590Thanks for the explanation, but you didn’t respond to the part about how can things get any more wretched.
August 30, 2026 at 8:33 pm #317596Sorry, I can’t answer that one. Level of pain tolerance is a personal matter.
