We will have to look at the full body of work after Yadi retires, but without diving into numbers and at this stage of the game, I think Yadi is a Famer.
I believe Ted Simmons will still finish higher than Yadi in terms of WAR, but as Heyman points out Yadi has been a winner. Plus there is that un-quantifiable leadership factor. Yadi in his prime changed the game just by his presence on the field.
That is the one area I use to defend Vince Coleman, and have always said his value was greater than the statistics show. Vince changed the game just by being in the lineup. He was not a Hall of Famer, but Vince was better than his numbers. Some guys are like that, and Yadi is another one.
