There is generally a look back period of 2 years for ‘asset shifting’ issues but, yeah if the guy was a seasoned swindler and had a good attorney to help structure the company and shelter assets then that is how it goes.
People who are dishonest and slippery are good at being dishonest and slippery – they are positioning for it right from the beginning when you think everything is on the up and up.
February 28, 2023 at 8:06 pm #213359The fight is far from over. MLB is now lobbying at the state level to avoid paying minimum wage. Big campaign contributions are a part of it.
MLB is lobbying hard to keep paying minor leaguers below minimum wage. Absolutely pathetic. https://t.co/dB2y1PiaZk

March 29, 2023 at 10:39 pm #214967Thanks for sharing the good news, BHC. Now, what about the other side of the coin? Does the new CBA prohibit MLB from dropping more levels of the minor leagues? Or will draft bonuses be sliced? This additional expense is going to come out of someone’s hide.
March 29, 2023 at 10:47 pm #214968Any additional expense will come out of the same hide that has always been the primary channel for the flow of cash in Big League baseball. The fan.

I read an ESPN article on it and it seems like the number of rostered players outside the Dominican will be cut from 180 to 165, so that’s a part of it. Wasn’t it 200 or more not too long ago?
No doubt this will come with some savings for owners, as they never give up something without an equivalent return.
March 30, 2023 at 8:49 am #214977Maybe they will add a separate charge for the bun the dog comes in.
March 30, 2023 at 11:08 am #214984The Athletic is a subscription site, but this is a very detailed article.

A couple of key points:
The annual cost per organization is estimated at $3 million.
While the number of minor leaguers can be cut by 15 per organization, no teams or leagues can be contracted. -
