Thompson needs to turn things around or be sent to Springfield. Getting bashed each outing can’t be good for his confidence.

Walker with another homer. Apparently the wrist injury didn’t curtail his power.

Parsons really needs to step up tonight or his spot will be in jeopardy. Leahy has been better in his last three starts. Ralston along with Prater and Paniagua have been the most consistent starters in the farms.

Zack Thompson is now 0-5 with a 9.55 ERA and a 2.23 WHIP. Ouch.

In Palm Beach, they let Edwin Nunes allow four runs AND load the bases before taking him out of the game. The only out he recorded was the last player he faced.

A large part of the problem with our minor league affiliates is their managers do not have their heads in the game at all.

Is the minor leagues not for development, particularly low-A ball? I think they should give guys plenty of opportunities to work through outings where they don’t have their best stuff or control, even if they end up with terrible stat lines as a result. They need to learn to work through that stuff at some point, it’s not like whether we win or lose a game at a ball is more important than Nunez learning to pitch when he doesn’t have his best stuff.

Torres hits his first homer of the year!! He leads the team in doubles with 10, so hopefully there will be more power to come.

So what is the return status of Quezada and Walsh? Quezada has been on the DL for the year, while Walsh strangely hasn’t pitched in 3 weeks, but is not DL’d.

As far as Nunez”s situation goes, I am assuming he is on a pitch count, likely not decided by local managers.

When watching Milbtv, you have to the good with the bad. Springfield player Donavan forgot how many outs there were and ran into a double play. They would have had Antonini up with 2 on, 2 out.

And Peoria has had a runner thrown out trying to stretch out a double, followed by 3 singles. Later in the same game, Cedeno gets caught stealing followed by a walk.

Talk about rally killers, but hopefully these kids will learn and improve as the season goes on.

Tommy Jew has 5 hits and 5 rbis in Palm Beach’s suspended game/double header so far.

I don’t see how they are developing Nunez and his 17+ ERA by allowing him to stay in so long when he clearly didn’t have it today. What are they teaching him by leaving him in?

LACardfan, pitchers aren’t always going to have their best stuff and they need to learn how to pitch through that. That pitchability is why guys like Wainwright are still in the league and why other guys flame out or never make it. The minors is the perfect time to work through some adversity at the expense of your stats. If he is able to figure it out, it would be a valuable lesson should he make the big leagues.

I wonder when Rondon will get back in the Memphis rotation. He should be ready after the two brief relief appearances in STL. Memphis has Warner and Black ready also. Thomas has had two poor outings as a starter. Pikes’s last outing was superb after the shellacking he took on 6/6. Lunn’s last start was the best for him this season. He also took a beating in his prior start on 6/7.
Palm Beach is giving the free agent 5-11 lefty Beller every opportunity to show what he has after his college games at So. Cal. They must see something…. at 22 y.o. he’ll need to move up quickly. So far his season has been up and down.

Rondon with a strong 2 innings of his start. Hope he can keep it up.

Winn with 4 hits thus far, as Palm Beach plays in the 8th in a 10-10 ballgame. Gorman plates a deuce with a ringing double and Burleson is 3-3 in their game that is presently knotted up at 3-3.

Winn gets his 5th hit, en route to a possible player if the day. Jew hits his 5th homer, and he is swinging a hot bat. Perez hits a long homer to give Springfield a late lead. I was not a big believer in Perez’s exit velocity increase, but the results lately are undeniable. He has 4 homers now, and he hit one the other night to dead center. I am glad to see a lot more positives in their syste, although their pitching depth remains poor.

Very strange line for Ludwig Jimenez, 3 2/3, 0 hits, 2 runs, 6 walks: 7 strikeouts.

Kind of thought there would be no need to add anyone to the 40 man roster, but now Perez, possibly Jake Walsh (although injured apparently), and Edgar Escobar.
