We are seeing a message sent that this team can win/ is actually better w/o Carp. It is a necessary narrative. Tommy gets a lot of his hits (foul balls) on balls just off the plate. It kills his walks, and he must improve.
Tommy is not yet overexposed. We will see a drop in production when he is. I think we will see that point by watching his walk total go up as he loses confidence and feels run down.
If Randy A really is a middle infielder too, it might be interesting to get him time at third this fall or winter.
