I’ve wasted much of your time over the last seven-ish weeks yammering on and on about prospects.
Ha, in that case I have never enjoyed having my time wasted more. Facts and figures and observations filtered through the heart and soul of a baseball fan. Then Brian following with his view backed by an incredibly informed and structured assembly of everything pertinent makes for a fantastic read.

jj-cf-stlParticipantDoc Pozo may cover the gap between Pages and Bernal, and float depending on Crooks 26′, with developing Jimmy as the priority.
Maybe it is a logjam w/Ivan included, but it also resembles very good depth at catcher without him.
January 4, 2026 at 3:07 pm #298703A logjam, but whether we end up with the kind of catcher that a team to be taken seriously in post season wants to have is far from certain. Bernal seems most likely, but countless prospects who seemed like a sure thing in AA didn’t pan out. Only one of Bernal and Crooks can play every day in Memphis. There are several paths, they have to choose one.
January 5, 2026 at 7:18 am #298720In a FREE article, the identity of The Cardinal Nation’s no. 1 prospect for 2026 should be no surprise, JJ Wetherholt. The #STLCards organization’s Player of the Year is poised to make his MLB debut. What is the infielder’s ceiling? https://t.co/UuZkZh1RP6 pic.twitter.com/ooILE9FyUo

January 5, 2026 at 8:02 am #298721Kyle stated:
Wetherholt is the prototype for what every Cardinals fan grew up championing: hustle, baseball intelligence, high character, and leaving it all out on the field.
As we enter a new age of Cardinals baseball, there isn’t a more perfect prospect to ring in the new age than JJ Wetherholt, as he represents all that is right with both traditional and modern baseball.
Very well said by Kyle. Wetherholt feels like the player that will be a fan favorite and franchise player with his baseball IQ, play style appealing to both old and new school fans, and his personal values. Even if Wetherholt doesn’t become a star on the field and more above average fegular, I still see the Cardinals making him the face of the franchise.
Very excited to hopefully see Wetherholt with the Cards next year and I have no doubts he will be at least average defensively where ever he is put.
January 5, 2026 at 3:03 pm #298740the rushed nature of prospect development and the lack of patience by organizations has steadily increased the gap in talent between the Majors and the Minors.
Also well said. It follows that the step up in quality of the opposition is a big one.
January 5, 2026 at 3:32 pm #298743I happened to notice that Wetherholt was born in the same town as Babe Ruth, so he’s got that going for him. On the flip side, that’s a tall order for JJ to live up to. Hopefully the pressure won’t have an adverse effect…

January 6, 2026 at 8:08 am #298759Twofer no. 2. Inserted at no. 20a on The Cardinal Nation’s 2026 #STLCards Top 50 prospect list is a 19-year-old acquired from Boston in December. Why don’t we already have Yhoiker Fajardo as a Top 10 prospect in the system, as do some others? https://t.co/Xr1cfre40V pic.twitter.com/cu3oAIW3wV

January 7, 2026 at 5:51 am #2988022026-27 rankings prediction, Fajardo is a top 5 prospect and ahead of Clarke, behind only Doyle as a pitcher (Excluding any additions).
He throws strikes…. Is going into his 19 y/o season at possibly A+ and once again, already throws strikes. He would be going into his 1st full season in 26 if drafted last year.January 7, 2026 at 6:21 am #298805Recapping The Cardinal Nation’s #stlcards Top 50 prospects for 2026, with @kyler416's and my individual votes, how each prospect ranked in prior years and how the positional mix has shifted sharply toward pitching. https://t.co/FRE8smzkrM pic.twitter.com/sPE1U7dc0E

January 16, 2026 at 1:09 am #299300It appears based on your writeups that the minor league pitching coaches have done a very good job of improving the effectiveness of the pitchers, especially in the developing the change-up.
The significant improvement in the farm system and the more agressive approach on the international front bodes well for the Cardinal’s future.

January 16, 2026 at 1:10 pm #299327Curious if anyone would put Luna or Carrion on their top 30 list? Padilla’s high ranking nationally and Dos Santos not being ranked makes me not understand their methodology even more yearly.
Luna’s upside bat/power makes me think it’s possible for him.
February 6, 2026 at 7:24 am #300390A new entry at 5a on The Cardinal Nation’s 2026 Top 50 Prospect List is a talented switch-pitcher acquired from Seattle in the Brendan Donovan trade. Jurrangelo Cijntje finished his first pro season strongly at Double-A. What is first for the 22 y/o with the #stlcards?… pic.twitter.com/FmetyxbzVs
