Davis seems to have clicked into place and is looking sort of like what we hoped for when we drafted him last year. Sort of a more athletic Gorman, maybe a little less power and a little less strikeouts as well. It’s good to see that he’s progressing and having some playoff success at AA too.
Those playoff OPSes for Palm Beach are prime…only one guy below .867. Keep hitting like that with their pitching staff and they’ll be in good shape. Hopefully they will take game 3.
I love that Palm Beach lineup. It feels like every guy is going to get a hit every time they come up. Wetherholt, Baez, and Petrutz have all been incredible.

Well done, Palm Beach!! It’s good to see some winning ways returning to our system. Wish the twitter link to the final K had shown a little more of the celebration.
Hopefully Springfield continues their good play as well…they are a little more handcuffed with the pitching staff being thin, though.
Not counting the playoffs (which would make us better), our minor league teams are a combined 21 games above .500. Memphis has 4 games remaining and that wraps everything up other than potentially having Springfield getting a couple more days of playoffs in.
Winners tend to stay winners. I’ve heard it said that the organization’s perspective is that player development is prioritized over winning in the MiLB. I assume they do not count developing a winning tradition and mindset. Ideally, players coming up should be winners at every stop. Ideally, losing is never acceptable no matter if a faberge egg needs reps. I can imagine that nonsense with trotting out Wainwright and his 8 ERA every 5 days is sort of representative of the mindset at the top, and that is what everyone else takes their direction from. It tells us something about the philosophy. I truly hope Bloom gets authority to come in with a bulldozer.

Well the Palm Beach players promoted to Peoria after the draft did not stay winners.
Peoria was:

2-5 in SeptemberMost of the promotions did not happen until the final week of July. So, yeah, roughly .500 is much better than the first “half”.
Spot on with Chase Davis, stlcard25. Last year it was looking as if he was going to be a big time bust, but now there is good reason for optimism. We’ll pretty much know what we have in Chase next year at this time. Hopefully Chase will be seeing some AFL action. I’m sure he wouldn’t object to returning to his old stomping grounds…..well about an hour and a half drive north of where he went to school. Personally, I much prefer the greater Phoenix area over Tucson.

Arkansas is a tough out, as the Mariners always seem to have good prospects in their system. Springfield would be in a lot better shape with Hence, Mathews and Hjerpe in their rotation as they had for a good chunk of the year. Alas, they will have to make the best of it. Hopefully they bounce back and take game 3.

If Davis gets a NRI and is hot in ST we should all clamor for him to make the team straight from AA like we did with Walker.
I don’t think Davis is going to move anywhere near that quickly, but once you’re in Springfield anything is possible. If the changes he’s made have stuck, it’s possible he’s here late next year but even that would be fast. Opening Day 2026 is not out of the question, though.
Baker has been very good in the second half, when he’s been pitching. But he hasn’t really had much depth on his outings. If he keeps Springfield in the game for 3-4 innings, hopefully the bullpen can handle the rest.
Lloyd swings at ball 4 with a man on first and then Bernal swings for the fences and strikes out to end the game. Springfield’s season is over and Palm Beach will end up the only league champ.
