I can only speak for myself, but I’d go get Tepera after that HR. Hope someone’s up and loose out there.

Probably right. He seems to pitch waist high alot. That HR was center-center never a good place to throw to a pro ballplayer.

Going with Stratton in the 9th. I guess they are wanting to save Jo Jo, Gallegos, and Hicks for the Cub series. A roll of the dice.

That new guy Mo found somewhere isn’t too good. Not any better than Cabrera at least. Just some more FO nonsense. I’m almost dreading whatever is going to happen at the deadline.

It’s obviously not easy to get one past Arraez. He gives them a chance to tie it.

It’s never easy, but snagged the W.

We have won five in a row. The Marlins have lost six in a row. You never know about baseball.

Yeah that Arreaz is a tough out- hitting everythung. Stratton really held in there tough though. Never lost his composure. That Terpa pitcher has a ton of experience but started off this year terrible. Was marginal bull pen guy on his previous team but they were probably thinking hes getting too old. Chance for him to right his ship I guess. Could work out? You never know. Looks like Cabrera ticked off Moe. Larry and Curly too.

If we win this one, we could run the table.

You heard it first here at The Cardinal Nation.

Yep, before today 5 in a row was a term that didn’t exist for the Redbirds this season. They’d reeled off 4 W’s in a row three times in ’23. At any rate, it’s something.

Cardinals are also presently 9.5 back in the NLC and haven’t been closer than 10 games back since July 3rd. Different sport, but my favorite basketball coach Al McGuire always used to say in that heavy Brooklyn accent of his, “If you can crack the double digit, you gotta’ chance.”

Cards are winning some games that they threw away earlier. If this was early June, it would be a reason to be cautiously optimistic. But in mid-July, it is frustrating as you feel had we not been so horrible earlier this would be exciting.

At least we escaped the cellar. With a bunch of games against the Cubs coming up the rest of the month, let’s just see if we can pass them. Finishing ahead of that club would at least be one positive outcome for 2023.

Go Birds. Get within five games of the lead in the division by Aug. 20 and let’s see what happens from there. Need a solid starter at the trade deadline. Any guys available. What about Schezer?

You would think the Mets would be selling on both Scherzer and Verlander. Not sure how much either has left though – might be Wainwright 2.0 and Wainwright 3.0.

…and you only do that if you are legitimately in the hunt, which we are not at this point.

I don’t think there will be any John Lester’s this year.

Yeah Bikemike, in ’73 the Cardinals went 4-16 in their first 20 games that season and finished up the season 1.5 game behind the Mets in the old NLE. I can vividly recall a phone conversation with my grandmother a couple of days after the regular season had ended in which we were lamenting being eliminated on the next to last day. I can still hear her voice as she sighed and said, “If we just hadn’t of lost all those games early in the season”…Haha! She was pretty smart.

Gorman in the 5 spot “lengthens the lineup”.

Yeah, if Gorman continues to get better and you slot Goldy, Nado, and Gorman at 3-4-5, the opposing pitcher doesn’t get to breathe for 3 consecutive hitters.
