There is so much to fix on this team on every level.

    They expect to lose now…

Wrong game thread with tonight’s lineup.

I wonder if they are trying to stretch Hudson out, with the idea of inserting him in the rotation in a couple of weeks. If they could get at least 8 or 9 starts out of him this season, that might give us an indication as to what to expect next year.

I wonder if they are trying to stretch Hudson out,

If so, it seems like they have bungled it horribly.

Looking at his game log for the season, from April to late June he had 11 starts in AAA, slowly working up to 100 pitches, in a manner that makes sense for a shoulder rehab guy. His last two starts there in late June being 95 and 100 pitches. Success!!! But wait. Then he was called up and has had appearances of 34, 52, 16 and 51 pitches. So now they have un-stretched him. Now maybe they will re-stretch him, but who can tell. His gimpy shoulder has probably had enough of OlliMo and the Cardinals system.

Hudson’s durability as a starter is a critical piece of information going into the free agency season. If he can go out there and pitch 5 2/3 innings per game, of 3.75 era ball for two months, that would take a lot of pressure off them in the off season.

Instead, they’re trying to figure out what is up with Matz
