Hicks just totally choked. He had an easy play and panicked big time.

The “it’s just one game relax” attitude becomes who you are. Zero urgency zero focus zero commitment to excellence.
It’s just one game one series etc…

It becomes who you are 100% of the time.

I admit when I am wrong. This team needs a weekend sweep (rotflmao) to make the 38 wins I said they’d have at the All-Star break. No way they have 38 wins. More like 35 or 36. This team may not won 70 this year. They are that bad.

Romero botched an easy bouncing ball comebacker yesterday, now Hicks with this one. I’m comfortable saying that I can make both those plays 50% of the time. It’s bizarro.

I think this matches that blown lead in Pittsburgh as the game that we won’t recover from. You can bank on getting swept tomorrow, and by August we will be looking at 20+ games out.

They won’t recover from this. This is going to end up as a season in infamy for the Cardinals – worst in any of our lifetimes.

You have to be semi-impressed with Hicks’ walk rate now, after seeing how far off the mark he can really be.

And I thought Hicks was maturing into a solid closer. But when you choke like that – I don’t know. That is just bizzaro-land.

Maybe Hicks is actually left handed and they haven’t figured that out yet.

I was watching and when Walker hit the HR I said, “Bless their hearts they are going to win one”.

I have to give it to them. They are very creative in finding a new and different way to lose almost every night.

I am afraid they have become used to it.

We will see how Hicks comes back next time. What is scary is that I can see that gaffe as doing a psychological number on him ala Rick Ankiel, where he won’t be able to throw strikes. The gaffe will be in the back of his mind.

Hopefully he shakes it off and comes back strong, but nothing will surprise me. That is uncharted territory.

Skippy was clearly the mastermind tonight. He has his reliever deliberately give up the two strike bomb in the ninth knowing that Hicks would have an epic meltdown in the bottom half. Hat tip to you Skippy.

One thing about this club, never count their opponents out. We will find a way to give it up.

Im’ not sure scoring a dozen runs would have won. I probably set the line too low.

Again though, you get even a mediocre start and this is a win. When your starter cannot even get out of the first, you doubt you even have a chance.

I think I’ve got Hicks fatigue. We’ve been waiting too long. Been enticed and deflated too often. He’s looked good a couple handfuls of times. It seems like we’ve fallen for this one before. We don’t have enyhing else, but I’m ready to move on anyway.

Surely we now lead the league in blown saves. At least we are first in something.

Knowing Mo he is probably plotting to buy at the deadline just to throw everyone off since 99% of the rest of the universe would sell. Sly devil.

Euro, that move was obviously learned under the tutelage of TLR.

The only thing we have going for us is that we are the best big league team in the Show Me state.

I feel for the kid. They just don’t practice the throw over to first.

Libby is terrible in his last start before the all star break, and Arozarena is going to be in the home run contest as a member of the best team in the game. Sheesh…

And Mo is sitting on an extension through 2025.

I’ve watched that game ending play more than a half dozen times and if I didn’t know better, I’d say it had to be intentional. I mean, can it possibly get any weirder?
