2023 StL Game #82: Saturday, July 1 vs. Yankees

Well I get to see todays game largely due to playing the damn Yankees. Din-din tonight isn’t finalized as my clan has been very sick the past week. Appears to be Cooties 2. So watch out. Redbirds also had a very tough week but you can always win a few here and there with baseball. Nobody wins em all. Don’t get the thing about Sept. I””ll pass on the character building right now to win some more games. Go Cardinals!

I thought it was a silly thing to do, Bling. He was only beginning to gain a foothold insofar as consistently hitting Big League pitching. There was no plausible reason to place him into the prime slot in the order with two seasoned and superior Big League veterans on the roster in the form of Goldschmidt and Arenado. I still believe Gorman will have a nice productive career, but he’ll never be Albert Pujols and even the great Pujols didn’t cement his deserving and perennial place in the batting order until the latter half of his second season.

That sac-bunt attempt by Nootz was obviously relayed from the bench. I love the sac-bunt, but under no circumstances should a sac-bunt be attempted in the 3rd inning of a scoreless ballgame. I don’t care if Koufax is on the mound. Whoever put that play on has not a clue of the proper way to play this game so as to have a decent chance of adding a number to the W column. It’s way past being anything that could be termed shameful.

Yep JJ focused on the pitch all the way to the bat. Sometimes just hitting the ball is all it takes. That inning was sweeeet. Need some good pitching rest of the game now.

Nooty turns on his afterburner for a double!

Man I love that Nado stroke for a double. That guys got quick hands and his uniform is dirty too. I don’t like baseball players with clean uniforms!
