We need 3 or 4 runs here in the 7th to make a serious bid for victory. Still 7-1 Chicago.

Well we get no 7th inning runs…..Cards need to challenge the call at 1st.

What a pathetic excuse for a pro baseball team.

Now we can’t even throw and catch.

Yeah – back to 14 games under and 10 games out of the division. I don’t see a path to the playoffs either by winning the Division or snagging a WC spot.

This team, outside of one 11-3 two-week stretch, has pretty much stunk all year. I don’t understand why absolutely nothing has been changed by now.

Cannot disagree ZTR. However, the problems are so numerous. I think Ownership has to start with the Front Office and go from there. I mean, they have to change their approach to evaluating players and how to structure the roster. What a mess!

The manor in which we got belted today, if we don’t come back and win tomorrow’s game vs Stroman & Co., then that will indicate a serious lack of character. I like our chances tomorrow.

This Anthony Kay reliever looks a bit like a young Bruce Sutter.

11 1/2 back for WC 2; 10 back of the Reds. It hasn’t looked this bleak in a long, long time.

Whether it’s his fault or not, Marmol has to go but Mo won’t pull the trigger because it would make it look like he has no effing idea how to hire a manager – I think it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t.

Oh my goodness, we stink so bad. Every aspect of the game is dreadful.

and yet, Mo and Marmol are safe and DeWitt does nothing. Fiddling while Rome burns.

The fans need to start voting with their wallets and their feet – it might be the only thing that will get the organization’s attention.

It would seem there are still some folks posting here who entertain thoughts of the Cardinals actually winning something this year despite all evidence to the contrary. Now hear this: this coon has been kilt. skint and et. Watch the rest of the season and enjoy what you can without illusions.

Enjoyment can now only come with change within the organization. We must see signs of a new plan with competent leadership in order to ‘enjoy the process’.

As it is, until changes are made, there is no hope for the future.

Embarrassment, humiliation, disgrace, shame and a complete loss of face. This game featured it all. A genuine brush off as the St. Louis, Cardinals get slapped around the block for drill and entirely degraded by their long time rival known as the Cubbies in a venue situated in a foreign country over 4000 miles from their home ballpark. What’s worse, is that I’m no longer entirely certain that the leadership of this organization continues to even care. I decided to take a page out of their playbook and didn’t even bother to watch after the 3rd inning. I took a nice little stroll up to the local park instead. Why waste a nice warm summer day at the gallows watching this team twist after the drop? Might be best if they continue to play like they did today. Maybe the leadership will be replaced by people that care just a little bit.

Nice to know Waino and this team suck at home and abroad.

Waino didn’t do anything wrong by coming back. The front office gave him $17 millions reasons to say yes. That is on them!

Wow, saw the score and am just now reading about the carnage. Fortunately this dude spent the day seeing family and friends in the old hometown, and attending my nephew’s wedding. What a wonderful event – makes you have some faith in the younger generation.

The wifey and I even showed some thought-to-be-lost dance moves at the reception. Well, the lovely Mrs Bike did – I am not the best although I got out there and busted a couple moves.

Have to say the same thing mostly echoed here. All of the poor player evaluations and bad transactions of the last few years has hollowed out this club. We just ain’t good. It is looking less and less like patience will prove to show a better club, and more like changes need to be made. Whether those changes include management personnel, or DeWitt gives this group an opportunity to right the ship is anyone’s guess. But the one thing that is looking more and more certain is that we are not very good, and less and less certain is the mantra of “this is a good team going through a bad stretch.”

Wainwright hasn’t pitched a game all season with a Game Score over 48. Yesterday’s GS= 8. Eight!. He just can’t dominate anymore. I’m afraid he’s done.

A Walker 2 out rbi base hit to center knots this affair up at 4 here in the 3rd. Then Walker gets picked off 1st base to extinguish the St. Louis quest to seize the lead.
