    Top of 3.

Walker grounds it to Escobar at 3rd…..oh and he briefly drops it, but quickly picks it up and fires it across the diamond to Alonso’s waiting mitt at 1st base for the out

Carlson – Bounces one behind the bag at 1st where Alonso fields it and feeds it to his sprinting pitcher Carrasco at the bag for the out

DeJong – Oh my oh my! …Paulie launches a shot deep to left where the left fielder Canha is not even going to give that ball the time of day as it smashes off the second tier facade and it’s now 6-4 good guys.

Knizner – Grounds out to Escobar at 3rd to retire the side.

If things go according to Hoyle, the Metropolitans will score one run here in the 3rd. In each of the first two frames the Mets have entered their at bat down multiple runs, and each time they exited the inning down a run .

And they do not score……6-4 Cards heading to the 4th.

Hey, it’s The Pugster! How goes it, Pugs? Glad to see you, my friend. You’ve been MIA for so long that people were saying I was you…Haha!

    Top of 4.

Edman – Walks for the second time on this lovely Sunday afternoon…….and that last pitch will put the finishing touches on Carlos Carrasco’s performance.
Enter John Curtiss…… what’s with the extra “s” in what should be “Curtis”??

Donovan – Grounds it through the vacancy between 1st & 2nd bases and out into right field for a hit and Tommy Boy will scamper his way around to 3rd base.

Goldy – Lofts a high but short fly to right ….in comes Marte to grab it and even the fleet footed Edman wouldn’t be so daring as to attempt beating that throw home.

Arenado – Bounces it to short and this should be two ……and it is a 6-4-3 twin killing to extinguish the Cardinal threat……ouch that hurt.

Hey TD! You know, we almost could be twins……who knows? Stranger things have happened……maybe we are brothers?

I missed the first 3 innings and just saw that the box says the Mets with 4 runs on only 3 hits. That’s like drinking a lot of beer from an empty can.

I felt like drinking a lot of that beer after Edman dropped that fly ball in center……but then I remember Euro Dandy’s game thread drinking ban, TD.

I just tuned in so I missed that play, Pugs, but I saw earlier in the thread where it was mentioned he should have caught it for an out.

Well right back on schedule as the Mets score a run here in the 4th to once again finish an inning within a run of the Cards. This trend can continue thru 9 innings if the baseball Gods so see fit.

Yeah love Rat…… he’s literally one in a trillion.

Yes, Edman wasn’t charged with an error, but he sure deserved one, TD.

Yeah, they almost have to kick it twice with the proverbial “Das Boot” to be charged with an E nowadays. You’d almost think the pitchers would complain.

    Top of 5.

Gorman – Flies out to Nimmo in center on the first pitch he saw.

Walker – Lines a shot deep to right …..Marte drifts back to the wall and that baby somehow finds it’s way over the wall for a dinger….how sweet is that! The way Marte was sizing that ball up, I thought for sure he was going to snag it. 7-5 Good guys

Carlson – Flies out routinely to Nimmo in center .

DeJong – Strikes out swinging on a 3-2 slider.

That oppo-tater from Walker was a carbon copy of the one he hit over the RF wall in yesterday’s game

Libby cannot register the “W”, as Stratton is in to pitch the 5th.

Our old friend, Tommy Pham, just ties this affair up with a 2 run tater to right. 7-7. Now it’s just a matter of which team has the better bullpen?

Top of 6. John Curtiss still dealing for New York.

Knizner – Hits a soft liner to center…..where Nimmo executes a rather unnecessary jump to haul in. These fielders are learning that if you jump, whether you need to or not, a bunch of unknowledgeable fans are going to loudly shout their approval. You know, if I were a stadium beer vendor, I think when the customers started reaching for their wallets, I would take a little jump in the air…….just might be good for extra tips.

Edman – Walks for the third time on the day.

Donovan – Whiffs looking, on a pitch that looked a trifle low to me. And for that, Curtiss is getting yanked.

    Enter the righty, Domonic Leone.

Goldy – Edman swipes 2nd base. Goldy walks on a 3-2 wide one.

Arenado – Can make amends here for bouncing into that tailor made 6-4-3 earlier. Strikes out swinging.

Good grief, why is Pallante giving him anything hittable 0-2 in a tied game. Just missed a homer there with a man on. Its like we are trying to find a way to lose this.

Remember our record in close games. They’re not trying to do anything bling. It comes naturally.

Top of 7. Brooks “Boo” Raley now toeing the Mets rubber.

Gorman – 0 for his last 18. Walks.

Walker – Grounds it right to McNeil who was positioned right behind 2nd base……how inconvenient was that…..McNeil takes a couple steps to tickle the bag and his throw to Alonso at first is in more than enough time to get Walker to complete the double play .

Carlson – Raps a hot grounder to Alonso at 1st…who bobbles it and throws to Raley covering 1st for the out ….what! Is this guy Don Denkinger Jr ! Carlson was safe by a mile and the Cards will rightfully seek an appeal. Call overturned…… Carlson is safe.

DeJong – Grounds it neatly down to Escobar at 3rd who’ll glove it and wing it across the diamond to Alonso to retire the side.

Hey Brian. With all I’ve had to endure since last October, I wouldn’t be back if the Cards were not turning the corner on this thing. Love my Cards whether they are winning or losing, but this year is a bit different. This past late March, I circled June 18th on my calendar as to when it would be good for my health to watch the Cards again. We may or may not win this game, but the worst is over. It should be a fun season the rest of the way.
