Remember, after the two games against the Cubs we then have six games with Houston and the Yankees. 3-3 in those six games would probably be good.
Din din for this one will be some Hormel roast beef, mashes potatoes/gravy, a glass of water. and some Prairie Farms Vanilla Bean ice cream. Then a couple of 7×50 Palma Real cigars while me and Whitey Herdog sit on the couch and watch the game.
That Prairie Farms is really good ice cream. Problem with it is that the word got out and now it’s priced the same as the fancy brands.
Would like to see another strong performance from Liberatore.
He and Mikolas will likely be the only survivors from the current staff.
Maybe Montgomery too?
Matz needs to stay in the bullpen since we probably have to keep him.
Wainwright will retire.
Will be interesting to see how the roster is reconstructed through trades and free agency starting in July.

The chances that OlliMo’s computer will come up with the same optimum lineup two days in a row is slim, so the chances it will do so the day after a win is unlikely. Considerations like recognizing and rewarding success do not compute. Stability, momentum, the value to a hitter of having the same role and likely getting similar looks days in a row, all humbug. So we will have to wait and see what we get. Maybe Contreras will be dropped down. A .200 hitting cleanup hitter is deranged, however many millions of reasons there are. But then, there is only so much room at the bottom, and its crowded down there.
Once Noot comes back, I would like to see this for a while. Gorman and Donovan could swap 2B/DH, DeJong could play out his contract on the bench taking an occasional DH turn. Not that rearranging the furniture will cure anything, but it maximizes the potential impact of guys who seem to have a pulse.

Edman SSCiF, Putting Donovan up there like last season would be reasonable, assuming he continues to snap out of the funk he started the year in. If we do that, then I would put Walker ahead of Carlson.
At the plate, Walker might be working through some things related to facing far more advanced pitching and defense than he had exposure to in AA. He looks like more of a guy who finds a way to make something happen rather than an all or nothing one dimensional type guy like Arenado who can yank homers into the left field seats when he gets the right pitch. If that development continues, I would want him up in the lineup, before the all or nothing types. Even going with 3 make it happen guys, Noot, Donovan and Walker, and then Goldy and Arenado. We need to move away from the pray for a homer offense.

Gorman as cleanup is even more deranged than Contreras as cleanup was. Nobody has ever been colder than Gorman has been for a solid month now. His OBP over that time is around .200 and all his other offensive numbers are equally appalling. I can accept the argument that he needs PAs if he is to pull out of it, but what justification can there be for having him in the middle of the order while he is trying to do that? It seems like active measures are being taken to minimize our chance of winning. I hesitate to say that, but another explanation does not come to mind.
Gorman and DeJong are trending exactly the way I knew they would six weeks ago.

Winn is hitting .251 down in Memphis with 7 dongs. May as well bring him up and ship DeJong out to Idaho for a sack of potatoes.
And Gorman will end up around .230 for the season.

So who do you suggest? In a perfect world Lars is in the lineup but he isn’t and they have to move things around. Me personally I’d like Goldie and Arenado 3-4 but the geek squad doesn’t see it that way and if they did

My guess is it’ll be more of a reality by next month that your expensive sack of potatoes is cut loose. They’ll wait it out and see how the injury bug hits MLB first.

Donovan – Drills a liner towards the left field line ……Canahu is on his high horse but he’s not going to corral that one as it bounces up against the wall and Brendan will trot into 2nd base with a leadoff double.
Goldy – Strikes out swinging on a high slider.
Arenado – Whacks one high to left field…and nobody’s going to slap the leather on that baby as it’s long long gone up into the second tier pavilion……2-0 Good guys.
Gorman – Flies out routinely to left.
Walker – Walks on a 3-2 changeup just off the outside corner.
Carlson – On 3-2 Dylan strikes out looking on a low pitch that could have been called either way .

DeJong – Lofts a pop-up half way to Jupiter……the planet not the one in Florida…. and when it finally lands, McNeil at 2nd base will haul it in.
Knizner – Grounds it out to Escobar at 3rd and his throw to 1st sends Alonzo reaching for the heavens and Knizner reaches safely compliments of the E-5.
Edman – Walks.
Donovan – Grounds it up the middle and out into center for a base hit and in races Knizner with the third Redbird run with Edman taking up new residence at 3rd
Goldy – Fore!!!….Goldy golfs one towards the left center field gap and it gets down and she’s rolling wallward ….in comes Edman with Donovan sprinting around 3rd safely and it’s now 5-1 Birds in the Goldy 2 run 2-bagger.
Arenado – Couldn’t check his swing and he’s out on strikes …….very debatable whether Nolan actually did commit on that pitch.

A Nimmo 2 run double(Walker dove for it) again positions NY within a run of St. Louis…….only saving grace is that Nimmo is out at 3rd on a quest to turn a double into a triple. 5-4 Cards heading to the 3rd.
