Hope he runs on the 1st pitch. At least get a chance to tie.
June 12, 2023 at 9:15 pm #224180Second pitch worked out. How about an RBI base hit?
June 12, 2023 at 9:16 pm #224182This is new. Somebody else’s ninth inning guy can’t throw strikes.
June 12, 2023 at 9:18 pm #224183Come on Goldy!
June 12, 2023 at 9:18 pm #224184One pitch and ballgame. Just can’t get it done. No how, no way.
June 12, 2023 at 9:19 pm #224185Ugh!
June 12, 2023 at 9:20 pm #224186Goldy with the squibber back to the mound. Not that I expected more, to be honest. This team is a disaster.
June 12, 2023 at 9:31 pm #224189Goldy’s squibber to 1st trumps NA’s pop up to first as saddest RISP effort of the day.
June 12, 2023 at 9:32 pm #224190After a mound visit following a HBP and a four pitch BB, I’m not sure a rip at the first pitch is the right approach, but it just illustrates how frustrating this season’s been when I’m sitting in the den and second guessing the reigning NL MVP…Haha!
June 12, 2023 at 9:41 pm #224191Down to 13 under and in danger of sinking to the season’s nadir of 14 below .500 on May 6th.
June 12, 2023 at 9:49 pm #224193Well that was just the next chapter in a whole book of revoltin’ developments this year.
27-40 – 13 games under. They have to play .667 baseball the rest of the way to get to 90 wins…..
Zero chance this team wins 2 of 3 for the entire rest of the season….
They have to go 54-41 .568 just to finish the season at .500.
This team has no soul and no fight to them. Nobody is mad. They say they are upset and frustrated with all the losing but I sure don’t see it.
June 12, 2023 at 10:16 pm #224197I don’t see it either, ZTR. They may be frustrated, but it doesn’t look like frustration bothers them too much. The mindset seems to be to take the field and see what happens as opposed to take the field and force the action needed for a W and if any sense of urgency exists, I sure can’t detect it.
June 12, 2023 at 10:45 pm #224199Somebody hands Ollie the talking points for the presser: “our luck will change, tomorrow maybe we get two lucky bounces”. “the result wasn’t there but the peripherals are solid”, “potentially we could go 122-40, we just have to clean it up a little and its doable”.
June 12, 2023 at 10:59 pm #224200Trust me, September is going to be amazing.
June 12, 2023 at 11:31 pm #224202We all know how this ends up. Lose the series.
Something has to be done here! They’re not responding. Will bowtie have the stones to admit he was wrong in this hire and fire this chump?
June 13, 2023 at 5:22 am #224206Will bowtie have the stones to admit he was wrong in this hire and fire this chump?
Presumably, Mo would replace Marmol only with someone with whom there are no philosophical differences. It seems like that would have to be an internal hire of a Marmol clone who can be counted upon not to go off script. It is hard to see where that would make any difference.
June 13, 2023 at 6:33 am #224208He would probably send Girsch down to manage. Not in full uniform of course.

stlcard25ParticipantArenado wasn’t shy about ripping into Colorado management for failing to prioritize winning. I’d be curious what he’s got running through his head right now. Even casual fans knew that the pitching staff wasn’t likely to be strong enough to truly contend. With the injuries and drop offs, it’s one of the worst in the league…again.
What a waste of the HOF primes of guys like Goldy and Arenado. I guess on the plus side we may finally get a top 5 pick.

jj-cf-stlParticipantGood results from Libby. Five singles and two doubles, 2/5 BB/K, 27 batters faced. Kept the ball in the park.
June 13, 2023 at 7:42 am #224218So much for my theory about Stratton, lol. I don’t about you gutsy, but I’m out of ideas for getting many wins out of this bunch
June 13, 2023 at 7:50 am #224221
jj-cf-stlParticipantYah, they tried him when ahead, and when tied, and he came up short. They saw the same thing you did over a much larger sample size, and gave it a try. But, the way the pen is falling apart, Stratton may continue getting meaningful appearances going forward.
June 13, 2023 at 8:10 am #224223Generally, there’s a shelf life on fan patience and so, actions are taken to reset that clock from time to time.
If you have a losing franchise and a new GM is hired he will usually outline a plan to rebuild – and ask the fans to ‘trust the process’.
As long as progress is being made the average fan will go along and be generally supportive.
Mo has survived the last 3 years of Matheny, Schildt (who improved on Matheny) and is now on Marmol (who actually does seem to be an extension of Mo).
If you take a look at what kind of team the Cards have really been since mid-2015 – there aren’t many bright spots. Most of what they’ve accomplished has been courtesy of a weak division.
Mo is blessed with what may be the most patient fan base in pro sports. How long will the patience continue though?
June 13, 2023 at 8:25 am #224228Just unwatchable.
June 13, 2023 at 8:39 am #224229Mo is in a position similar to Contreras. Both signed a multiyear contract going into this year. We will be seeing them for a while regardless of results.
June 13, 2023 at 3:55 pm #224272Bullpen by committee rarely works.
