Carlson and Noot are not too far away. It will be interesting to see what the computer comes up with. I’m sure Ollie can’t wait to find out how they will be used.

Yeah, Rats, I knew you’d like this guy. Arraez with the 2 for 4 night has now collected 85 hits in 57 games. He’s on pace for over 230 hits. He’s only K’d 11 times this season.

Of course there is something to this. When you’re up by multiple runs, as Cards’ opponents often are, and Goldy or anybody else is up with the bases empty, the last thing you want to do is give up a walk. So you challenge him. Not as much when runners are on.

No idea how things will look in three months, but right now with the success of teams like the Pirates, Marlins and DBacks in the NL and the Orioles and Rangers over in the AL, there’s somewhat a sense of a changing of the guard, so to speak. It’s been quite a while since any of those teams have put together anything that could be termed winning baseball. It’s good to see and I hope they get some significant support from their fans.
This just feels hopeless. I don’t see a way out of the mouse trap. We need top to bottom changes and it has to start with a new POBO / GM with the right philosophy to build a winning team and an owner willing to spend some money… I don’t know if that is going to happen.
Libby is simply not ready yet. needs to go back to AAA for more work and polish.

I kind of think that this sort of thinking is part of where the Cardinals organization has gone wrong. Libby has established his ceiling. Hoping and praying is not going to help. More AAA is not going to matter. He is capable of being a .500 pitcher vs AAA opposition and less than that in MLB. Expecting him to be more than that going into this year was a mistake. Expecting him to be more going into next year will be the same mistake again. I am 100% sure it will be made if the present FO is still in charge. Failing to recognize reality is a big part of why we are the worst team in the league.
I thought Libby earned his promotion. His AAA 8 GS to start the season was just fine.
Let him take his lumps at mlb and continue his development. What does going down and being successful help in the long run?

You are exactly right. They approach all their young talent like they do Libertore and that’s the problem.
How does one determine that a pitcher cannot improve at age 23 and beyond? Who should the Cards start instead? The 26-year-old who needs to improve or the 32-year-old with the big contract who needs to improve?
Complaints are easy to voice, but alternatives are noticeable in their absence.
Oli said it wasn’t a developmental league. Fans agree. Mo went with too many wing-and-a-prayer guys, not enough MLB-ready guys. Fans don’t like it.
Alternatives? NONE. Refer to the roster if necessary, haha. Those empowered will occasionally rearrange the chairs. Pissing on a sparkplug would do just about as well.
