I’m aware that a lot of people think Brad Thompson can be annoying at times and although I like him, he occasionally gets on my nerves too. I’m sure a lot of you recall how his appearance when he was playing for the Cardinals took on the look of a baby faced schoolboy. But what I found interesting back then was that he was who TLR summoned from the BP on more than a couple occasions for the express purpose of retaliating against the opposition for throwing at one of LaRussa’s Redbird hitters. I recall one particular incident in which Thompson received a suspension after he plunked David Wright in retaliation for Met’s pitching hitting Albert and another Cardinal Player during that game. Thompson seemed to always be TLR’s go to Luca Brasi type guy when he needed to send a message to the other team. I just always though it was funny that he always seemed to ask “Baby Face Thompson” to contract and perform the hit…Haha!

I watched the Datt/Johnny interview segment, 4ev. Johnny’s always entertaining, but I’d like to see Al ask him a couple questions…”Hey Johnny, when you gonna’ trade that pretty bow-tie for some pitching?”

Nice sliding catch by Harrison Bader Edman.

That could have been a misplay by Donovan or maybe just the camera angle. Throw in seems to have missed the cutoff man. That might be two days in a row for that, IIRC.

1TD – Mo is holding on to that bow tie in the hopes Brett Cecil makes a comeback!

Well, all knotted up in another tight game. I’d say I enjoy close games, but 6 and 14 won’t let me.

That base hit to right should have been caught by Walker. Everyone obsesses about his bat but his glove is what worries me.

That looks like little league baseball out there.

Holy cow. We can’t catch. We can’t throw. We can’t back up a throw. We can’t hustle after a loose ball. I guess the question is, what can we do?

Yeah, Walker is not really MLB outfield capable. Sorry, but he’s just not. Not as an everyday outfielder. I am thinking Donovan is not a good choice out there either.

I finally was able to tune in and I’m not really sure I should have. We are looking like bad news bears here and not the second half ones. I read.an article today about our defensive numbers. It wasn’t pretty. There’s no one on the team that is considered a really good defensive player. Maybe goldy but I’m not even sure where his numbers are. Arenado is way down the list of third basemen. Some of it is having guys like yepez out there but lots of times its guys like edman and Donovan making mistakes. You can tolerate gormans average defense with his offense but other guys offense isn’t that great. Tack on our pitching issues and it’s just ugly

Here in the 5th, Gorman missed that first one by 16 inches.

Will anyone challenge Arenado for the GG at 3B this season?

I think I am going to start watching Cannon again.

Mo has to be a politician when discussing the club in public. The deeper talk is for behind closed doors.

The one thing he has to support his watered down comments is that our run differential reflects a better ball club than our record.

Garcia adds to the lead. That had to feel good for him. Mo is likely cringing, wondering why in the heck they did not give AG a shot – or at least get something for him in a trade.

You just knew Garcia was gonna launch at least one in this series. The icing on the cake.

In fact, talk about bad management. You have the Cardinals with the worst record in the NL, and getting hammered again tonight. You also have Garcia hitting cleanup for one of the best teams in the AL, and Arozarena hitting third for the best team on the planet.

You have the reigning NL Cy Young winner on a team that is six (I think) games over .500 managed by a guy who was on your staff last year. And you have another of the best young pitchers in the game wearing a DiamondBacks uniform.

    Bad, bad and more bad.

And now Contreras lines a dong and its 6-3 Rangers now.

Oh, by the way, Arraez is now hitting .401.

I was concerned that this would be a long series. I am not convinced we leave Texas with a win. The Rangers are a more complete team than the Cardinals. Very disappointing when you consider where the two clubs stood one or two seasons ago.

Now Contreras hits a homer with nobody on. Remind me how many runners he’s left standing out there, not even able to advance somebody in the middle of a rally.

..and you have overpaid a shortstop who has not hit a lick in five years, and are overpaying a left handed pitcher who could not stay in the rotation, despite the club being desperate for pitching success.

And now Fenton Walker slams a dong and it’s now a 6-4 game.
