1:15 p.m.
RHP Jack Flaherty (3-4, 5.24) vs. LHP Clayton Kershaw (6-3, 2.52)
BSM // KMOX // WIJR
(and Bally Sports South/Southwest Extra)May 21, 2023 at 12:04 am #221381Can Flaherty give us consecutive good starts?
May 21, 2023 at 9:25 am #221390The dodgers have scored 18 runs in 3 games this series. That won’t cut it today. The lineup bailing out the pitching and D is a tall task vs Kershaw.
May 21, 2023 at 10:00 am #221392Well, we’ve already achieved a series split. Anything else is gravy.
May 21, 2023 at 10:41 am #221395No Gorman?
May 21, 2023 at 11:10 am #2213981. Lars Nootbaar (L) CF
2. Paul Goldschmidt (R) 1B
3. Willson Contreras (R) C
4. Nolan Arenado (R) 3B
5. Juan Yepez (R) DH
6. Tommy Edman (S) 2B
7. Paul DeJong (R) SS
8. Brendan Donovan (L) LF
9. Oscar Mercado (R) RFMay 21, 2023 at 11:12 am #221399It looks like OlliMo has fielded the best defense he can.
May 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm #221403What’s for din-din everybody?
Mine is a ribeye steak in the air fryer, a couple ears of corn, some apple stuff/cobbler, and a glass or two of ice water. Then a couple of 7×50 Palma Real cigars whilst me and Whitey Herdog sit on the couch and take in the game.

May 21, 2023 at 1:21 pm #221404Think we will be going with spaghetti. Mrs Bike Mike made a big old casserole dish of it yesterday and baked it, as we had a bunch of family over. There is plenty leftover, and so we will likely dig into it again, with garlic bread and chopped salad as sides.
I am not really a wine drinker, but might have some red wine with it, along with plenty of cold water.
Go Cards!!
May 21, 2023 at 1:27 pm #221405On our lineup, I have not been impressed with Yepez. Seems to be usually over-matched.
With the talent Gorman is showing, I would have him in there. Young, talented guys don’t need to be babied – they need to get the reps and learn how to handle everything at the big league level.
May 21, 2023 at 1:43 pm #221407NA “breaks up the no hit bid”.
Uhm, he’s leading off the 2nd inning.
May 21, 2023 at 1:51 pm #221410Yepez has to be able to get the runner over to third with one down. Just put it in play to the right side. Give yourself up. Even a push bunt to the right. Getting the runner to third with less than two outs sets up the easy RBI chance. But he had no strategy to increase his chances. He employed the same swing he always employs. Pretty much all or nothing. Pitiful, but not his fault. He is the product of the system.
Luckily Edman knocked in the run. But winners rely on skill rather than luck.
May 21, 2023 at 1:54 pm #221411#STLCards manager Oli Marmol said today was a scheduled off day for slugger Nolan Gorman, who hit Saturday’s game-winning HR. With the team playing 19 games in 19 days, stars Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt will have scheduled off days coming up next week as well.

Willson Contreras is back behind the plate today to catch RHP Jack Flaherty vs. the #Dodgers. They paired well in the #STLCards rout of the #Brewers on Monday.
Since reinstating Contreras as the team's primary catcher, the Cards are 4-0 with a 2.75 team ERA in Contreras’ starts.

May 21, 2023 at 1:55 pm #221412Wooot, Mercado breaks it open. 3-0
May 21, 2023 at 2:07 pm #221414Very simple fare today, oven-fried chicken, potato salad and snap beans, Maybe a bit later I’ll break out the Haagen dasz.
Sorry to see the lead shrinking.
May 21, 2023 at 3:01 pm #2214154 hits and 4 walks in 4.2 IP. 103 pitches. sigh.
May 21, 2023 at 3:04 pm #221416And a balk by Verhagen. Can anyone play this game?
May 21, 2023 at 3:05 pm #221417Verhagen fails to inspire.
May 21, 2023 at 3:06 pm #221418Well, back to outside chores. Hope for the best.
May 21, 2023 at 3:19 pm #221419Ya gotta like this Mercado kid!
May 21, 2023 at 3:46 pm #221420Mercado making a bid for more playing time. O’Neill and Carlson might want to heal up fast.
May 21, 2023 at 3:53 pm #221421PDJ making a bid to get his club option picked up. Bottom of the order with a big day.
May 21, 2023 at 3:53 pm #221422Liberatore about to let the Dodgers back in the game
May 21, 2023 at 3:58 pm #221424Liby to the rescue, I see. He’s young, he’ll get better.
May 21, 2023 at 4:09 pm #221429It would be helpful if O’Neill can ride the IL for a while. Maybe Carlson too.
