Did anyone else have an intense and overwhelming feeling that DeJong was going to send the crowd home happy with a dramatic walk off HR or Xtra base hit?…Me either.
Well kind of disappointing after Miley having to leave in the second inning, that we couldn’t take advantage of their bullpen. But sometimes that’s how it is. Win tomorrow and to night won’t mean anything
I agree on both accounts, 82 willie. It would have been real nice to have placed tonight’s game in the W column, but I thought winning last night’s 1st game of the series was imperative to avoiding disaster. Obviously we now still have a chance at taking the series which is always the key.
Does anyone else think that Nado would have been IBB’ed if the 5 slot would have been occupied by Gorman as opposed to DeJong? I know it’s after the fact, but I had a slight premonition when I first saw the line-up card at about 4 pm this afternoon.
Dejong posted exactly the same batting line as Goldy last night.
They gave us 7 free passes last night. That’s like saying here, take this game, please. 7 hits and 7 walks needs to be good for more than 2 runs if you want to be winners.
To your point, we won the OBP battle last night. Stl .341, Mil .297, but we lost the slg% battle .353 to .486
2023: Cardinals
9-1 W/L when hitting 3 HR or more in a game.
3-4 in 2 HR games
2-8 in 1 HR games like last night
3-13 in zero HR games
We’re 8-25 if we don’t hit at least 3 HR’s in a game. That says a lot about our pitching. We have hit 2 HR’s a game and have a losing record.
Last night we got on (.341), but didn’t SLG (.353), but in contrast, we just snapped a 4 game win streak that had 11 HR’s and a .611 slg%. It doesn’t hurt to outslug the opposition 🙂
