Yeah, you’ve got to feel for Sale. He deserved better help.

With some help from Greinke and KC, Redbirds could pull to within 6.5 back.

Matz was satisfactory, but I’d place Nado’s performace with the solo tater ahead of Burly who almost hit into a GIDP to end it and then got caught alseep on the GB hit way in front of him at 2B. Nice snag for the out in LF though.

Cardinals scored 3 runs in the 9th on a solitary hit, 2 BB’s assisted by 3 pitch clock violations, 1 IBB and a “Das Boot” in the form of an E-6. I genuinely hope Jansen’s Ph# is unlisted in Boston…

It is nice to be the recipient of some good luck for a change.

Winning the road series in Chicago and now in Boston is good stuff.

Could really, really use the sweep tomorrow.

    Sale must be seething.

How long before MLB tweaks the pitch clock rule to stop Contreras from trolling pitchers?

You know other teams are complaining about him.

    They can do it too.

Real nice 3.2 innings of work from the BP with only 2 hits allowed and no BB’s. I thought VerHagen really did a nice job and I’ve never been his biggest fan.

Yepez is lucky the ball at the wall didn’t put a knot on his skull. He looked like he was blindfolded.

BB, there is no spreadsheet that favors Yepez over Donovan vs lefties, in mlb. We know the D difference.

Donovan is a .714 ops vs lefties in 97 PA’s
    Yepez is a .713 in 77 PA’s

Matz has lowered his ERA to 5.62. Could be contract extension time.

At least we are now finding ways to win instead of finding ways to lose.

I am at the Arkansas vs South Carolina college game so I missed the last few innings of the Cards game but I followed on my phone. That was a sweet comeback.

    FYI here,

When it was in the 8th inning I told Whitey Herdog that we still had a chance if Jansen came into the game. And wala, BOOM!!!

Matz with a GmSc of 43, 51 without the Yepz gaffe.

I can only speak for myself, but after what I saw today I’d deal both the Redbird lefty SP’ers for Chris Sale. He was methodically good for 8 full.

Out hit 10 to 4, and K 9 times on offense but we get the win. These two games in Beantown have flipped the script on what has been the norm this season.

Taking a gander at the out of town scoreboard.

Reds down Miami 6-5 at Joe Robbie Stadium.

Kansas City leads the Brewers 3-2 in the 5th at County Stadium.

Baltimore leads the Pirates 2-0 in the 7th at Memorial Stadium.

I thought I sensed the excorcism and departure of the evil baseball gypsies a few days ago at Wrigley, Bikemike, but these 2 games at Fenway have certainly provided some indications that those evil little sons a’ guns have been replaced by the benevolent variety of baseball gypsies, whch is often the case in the realm of baseball mysticism…At any rate, mere mortals will never possess the ability to formulate a definitive answer to the mysteries of the countless unknowns related to both life and baseball, but we should be a little closer to getting a glimpse of the lost Ark of Testimony after tomorrow’s game at Fenway…Haha!

Thanks Rats! When you’re 7 back, all you can do is kneel at the alter of the all powerful and knowing scoreboard…

We’ve finally found the cure for what ails us! Kelly Jansen! Lol! Can we take him on the road to pitch against us everyday?

Nice to take another heartbreaker from the Sox. They can keep pulling these out late, so long as they end up in the W column.

    UPDATE:

Kansas City and Milwaukee now 3-3 in the 7th at County Stadium.

Be advised Christian Yelich has yanked two dongs in this one. That’s not what we need, for him to get hot heading into next week.

Cubs got blasted by the Twins 11-1 today. That is always good to see.
