I think the sponsorship patch should be Maalox.

Whats the weather like in St. Louis? Here in SW Indiana it’s cool, windy, and overcast. I am going to assume this game will not see any delays as the Doppler Radar does not show any green stuff in or around the metropolitan St. Louis area.

I am going to call this one 8-3 Redbirds with Arenado getting off the schneid with a long dong to left field tonight.

I don’t understand the Contreras bashing. The dude gave up the chance to play for his home country, Venezuela, in the WBC. He specifically said that he passed on the WBC because he was new to the Cards and wanted to spend extra getting to know the pitchers.

If you know anything about Venezuela, they have the worst economy in the Americas, and nothing is going right in the country, except the sport of baseball. This was a major sacrifice on the part of Contreras.

Weather is low 60s, some fluffy clouds and breezy.

I saw if DeJong and O’Neill strike out less than 4 times combined, we win.

    Four or more, we lose.

This is the kind of analytics Oli needs. Hopefully he’ll see this and bench both of them after their 1st ABs.

Offensively he got off to a slow start, but has been good recently, but my issue with him is his defense and exactly why I didn’t want to sign him and was really weary of the length of contract. He has an elite arm. But his blocking, receiving, and framing leave a lot to be desired. We all complained about Knizner’s defense, but the games Knizner has caught you can see a SIGNIFICANT improvement in the defense behind the plate.

If he gets hot enough, it will go away.

I need to make a vow never to watch a Steven Matz start.

Now a homer, 4-0, and I hear boos from the rather sparse looking crowd.

That was a quick four run hole. Nice job Cardinals picking up where you left off April. Gonna be a long summer it appears.

Very glad to hear that Thompson is headed to the AAA rotation. We need to try and develop a possible ace more than a reliever on a floundering mlb staff.

Thompson had been bad recently. So not shocking but I was hoping Pallante would be recalled. I think he had been doing ok in AAA.

    Brian,

I’ll bet the Cardinals wish that they had skipped Matz’s start this time.

    Yuck….

No Ohtani and we’re getting drilled early. Lol

Matz has been a huge bust.I thought he could be a good back end guy. We may have to put him in the pen if he can’t get it done. Maybe even a phantom DL stint.

DeJong error. (I’m scoring it an error). You’ve got to be kidding me

it’ll be interesting to see the reaction of fans if the poor play continues for these next 6 games in StL. If Cardinal fans are unhappy about the current state of affairs and wish for their voices to be taken into account, I can’t think of a better forum in which to conduct open public discourse than that of the ballpark. Moreover, the purchase of a ticket has always entitled fans to the right of expression within reason.

I decided to bypass St. Louis for some Peoria Chief action this weekend.
