I thought Rojas may have avoided the tag, but nice play by O’Neill for the OF assist and by Gorman to get the tag down.

Nice AB by O’Neill, laying off the pitch down on 3-2. But I thought he would hammer that 3-1 pitch. That one was right there, but he completely missed it. Two more left on after the Carlson ground out.

Yeah, the 2 out RBI base hits have been scant so far this season, but the other night they put baserunners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs and came up entirely empty. You can’t hardly get any better that 2 runners in scoring position with no outs. In a way, it’s better than bases jammed with no outs. At least seemingly so.

C Walker’s stance reminds me a lot of O’Neill. He’s a little more open, but has that nice short stroke that should lead to more contact and less strikeouts, but that is not really the case with O’Neill.

Pitching hasn’t been great overall, but as I said earlier, hitting with runners in scoring position has been killing us. We follow multiple walks with outs but opponents follow our pitchers walks with homers. Very frustrating.

Jeez – that really shows how it is going for us. Get the guy in a rundown and do not get the tag on him.

Motter did not play that well – was way too far down the line.

Can you believe this!? The guy throws the bat at a pitch that bounced, and gets a hit!!! If that is not a microcosm of our early woes, I don’t know what is.

    This inning keeps getting stranger.

I sure hope this team hits stride by May 12th. On that date the Redbirds start a run of 19 consecutive games without an off day. They get 2 days off after that run of games, which seems odd. They also get 2 consecutive days off before the 2 games with the Cubbies in England.

Wow – 7-2 now. This club is just sad right now.

The DBs don’t have any trouble cashing in on a bases loaded chance.

Great debut album by Steely Dan, but not a good thing for our club. They are just pounding us now. Gorman botched possible double play ball, then another hit. Monty sort of taking one for the team at this point.

Yeah, he was going along just fine and now he’s allowed 10 hits with 7 of them comimg in the 4th. At least, unlike last night, it’s still early.

They need to change some things up. When you’re in a funk, you need move base runners, steal, hit hit and run etc.

I agree, Cardinals27, but they need to try that early before they’re down by a ton.

I’m beginning to think a portion of the problem may be the countless different line-up formulas and placing players at different positions all over the field. Eventually, you have to indicate to these players where they’re going to man up in both the field and the order and stay with a plan of attack. Figure out the best approach and live or die with it, so to speak. And Goldy and Nado should be in there every day at the IF corners. Neither one of them is a DH.

ARI feasting on Cardinal pitching. Remind me again who our best pitching addition was this offseason?

Our starting pitching is still just a complete disaster. It has to be the pitching coach.
