No 1td, they want to save him for possible extra innings.

I like the defensive alignment tonight much better. It just feels more comfortable getting O’Neill back in left and Dylan in center. Plus as much as I love Walker’s bat, I prefer Burleson in right by quite a bit.

Eddie’s not getting it done at the plate. He’s looked pretty bad from the left side.

Good idea in extras, Euro. Set up the GIDP after they put that make believe baserunner on 2B.

I hear you BikeMike on the walks. Woody was solid there and typically has been in his career. But when I look at every pitch that got hit and 80% (or about there) were hit at 100mph or more (by the Pirates mind you), that’s scary. Our defense saved us a few times.

Ver Hagen on – needs to throw strikes. He’s pretty good when his command is on, but you can say that about most any pitcher in the big leagues.

Wow, spectacular play by Edman! Hasn’t done it with the bat, but saved a base runner there.

    A lead-off baserunner with a 1 run lead.

The big thing is, he limited the walks

It’s what he does. I wish we had more pitchers giving fewer free passes. Even guys who hit it hard often fail a big majority of the time. It’s a good approach if you have a reliable defensive lineup, which they have more so tonight than most other games this season. Nothing wrong with Woodford tonight, especially as a #5.

And the winner of the first 1-2-3 inning goes to VerHagan (assisted by Tommy).

Man, Goldy let’s a hanging breaking ball go. Jeez – watched three pitches right down the middle. Weird AB.

Woody had a 1-2-3 as well – third inning I think.

    Hey Jnevel,

The other night when Edman had a sac bunt and HR in the same game, we were guessing how many times that happens during a year. We both thought a really low number, maybe even that might be the only time. So, I checked how many times it happened in 2022. To my surprise, it happened 17 times. Charlie Blackmon did it twice, and Edman also did it in 2022.

Contreras and the Cardinals needed that RBI base hit. Uh oh, the fun continues for Gorman!

Wow Euro! In today’s age we see so few sac bunts. But a guy like Eddy is probably the right pick for it. He occasionally gets into one and his sac bunts are still competitive tries for a hit due to his legs.

He threw Carlson 5 sliders in 6 pitches. And Carlson swung and missed 3 of them. Clear game plan against Dylan.

Yep, you are right jnevel. He had a quick inning, but not 1-2-3. Let’s hope the 9th is uneventful.

We may really regret letting Oviedo go. It’s bad enough with Alcantara and Gallen – but if we add Johan to that list it will be downright embarrassing.

Those 2 RBI’s from Gorman tie him for the team lead with 13. He also leads in HR’s with 4, but I think the foremost pair of numbers are 8 BB’s and 11 K’s. Not too bad thus far.

If Oli has a sense of humor, he’ll bring in Hicks to get the final out — just for 1td.
