Yeah, bases jammed with no outs and no one can even get the ball out of the IF.
September 3, 2023 at 1:56 pm #233085Gorman comes through 2-1.
September 3, 2023 at 1:57 pm #233086Gorman needed that. Prior to that 2 out go ahead 2 RBI base hit, he was 1 for his last 17 with 1 RBI. The 2 runs he just pushed across give him 70 for the season.
September 3, 2023 at 1:59 pm #233087My goodness, we scored some runs with bases loaded.

ParticipantThompson pitching pretty good so far. We just got a walker homerun to make it 3-1, not bad so far.

ParticipantJust shows how little I’ve been able to watch. Walker makes a good play to hold a runner at first, then makes an outstanding strong throw to third. Didn’t get the runner cause he’s pretty fast but just shows how strong his arm is.
September 3, 2023 at 2:14 pm #233090Walker is improving in RF.
September 3, 2023 at 2:17 pm #233091DARN IT WE JUST CAN’T SEEM TO HOLD A LEAD.
September 3, 2023 at 2:17 pm #2330921982 willie
ParticipantWell Thompson is regressing now. Gave up the lead. Though the pirates are pretty good offensively. I personally think the pirates should be better. I think they have been let down by ownership and managing.
September 3, 2023 at 2:18 pm #233093Just thin how good Walker could be if he didn’t have all that iron around his neck.
September 3, 2023 at 2:41 pm #233097I don’t know how they play with all that sparkly jingle jangle bouncing around their necks. I realize most of them are young guys that don’t know any better, but you’d think that someone who they respected and looked up to would tell them how foolish and silly it looks on the playing field. Say what you want, but you don’t see that in the NBA, NFL or NHL. It’s simply a bad look.
September 3, 2023 at 2:57 pm #233098Sunday Night Baseball seems to have really taken a hit this year. I’ve noticed many TV scheduled games up to this point in the season that consisted of what were thought to be elite team matchups that would draw nice ratings when the ESPN network bought into them. A couple earlier in the year games had the Braves/Mets and Dodgers/Padres. Tonight’s extravaganza has the Astros hosting the “almighty” Yankees…Haha! At any rate, seems that the networks such as ESPN and FOX have found out the hard way that the preseason favorites don’t always live up to billing. We’ve had a similar experience this season. That’s baseball and I’m pretty sure that if I knew what was going to happen, I wouldn’t bother watching.
September 3, 2023 at 3:00 pm #233099Speaking of the NFL, have they started yet?
September 3, 2023 at 3:05 pm #233100The Cardinals haven’t been tagged with one yet, but there’s no less than 5 teams that have an “E” attatched to their column in the standings.
September 3, 2023 at 3:13 pm #233101Zack with a great game. Give that man a Rat Monte Cristo!
September 3, 2023 at 3:26 pm #233103And Walker strikes again (despite the iron)!
September 3, 2023 at 3:47 pm #233104Pallante with another uninspiring performance.
September 3, 2023 at 4:11 pm #233105A win is nice. Tip of the hat to Walker tonight.
September 3, 2023 at 4:56 pm #2331061toughdominican,
The NFL starts this Thursday night with their first game. Then the other games start this Sunday, 10 September.

September 3, 2023 at 6:26 pm #233109Thanks, Rats. I wasn’t sure and it sometimes seems like they start as early as Independence Day. And pretty soon we’ll be watching the Super Bowl on Memorial Day…Haha!

Hudson 65
Rom 40
Thompson 57September 5, 2023 at 7:33 am #233179Lee
ParticipantLooks like its time to give Woodford the shaft, yet again. He was on a rehab at same time as Libby, and the last two games for each was this:
Libby. 2 games, 6.2 inngs, 7 hits, 7 runs, 10 walks, 11 k’s, 168 pitches.
Woody. 2 games, 8.1 inngs, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 12 k’s, 121 pitches.
And after this, Libby gets recalled and not Woodford.??
Really? Woodford obviously pitching much better than Libby.
I know the season if over, but both players are fighting for a spot on the 24 team. This is simply a slap in the face to Woodford. I hope he can move on to another team, because the FO and Mgr here seem to be holding a grudge.September 5, 2023 at 7:39 am #233180Ya, they obviously like Libby more than Woodford… I agree with not just this comparison, but look at the guys who are in the pen now…? Wow, several of these guys should not be there…!
Barnes, ERA = 11.25
Waino, ERA = 8.10
Suarez, ERA = 7.02
Rom, ERA = 7.24
Libby, ERA = 6.12
Woodford, ERA = 5.67
Plus, Woodford has an option left and is more controllable. Barnes, Suarez,Waino, all much older than Woodford as well.
It really makes zero sense.!September 5, 2023 at 8:40 am #233184Somebody out there needs a 5 inning starter. Free Woody.
September 5, 2023 at 9:43 am #233191Lee
Participantgot that right BLing! let him go or bring back up. Libby simply has not pitched well, at all.
and you have guys in their mid 30’s in the pen, with worse numbers than Wood.. why not get him up in the long relief role..??? -
