LHP Matthew Liberatore (1-4, 6.93) vs. RHP Zack Littell (2-2, 3.58)
BSM // KMOX
(and Bally Sports South/Southwest)August 9, 2023 at 11:16 pm #231043Liberatore.
Boom or bust?
August 10, 2023 at 3:57 am #231044Long flight to Kansas City after this one. Would be nice to make it a happy flight. Hopefully Liberatore will feel like he’s got something to prove and pitch a good game for us.
August 10, 2023 at 11:01 am #231065I guess it’s either going to rain in KC on Sunday or they’re worried about that marathon flight time from KC to StL so they decided they needed a special travel day…No game. Maybe they should just drive?
August 10, 2023 at 11:23 am #231067The Ray’s got this guy off waivers and turned him into a starter. 2-0 in two tries so far.

SS Tommy Edman SAugust 10, 2023 at 3:45 pm #231076Big night for Libby-hope he does well.Read today our win last night at Tropicana field was our first there since 2014-9 years. A lot of rbi’s last night-some creative base running finally and a win! Wondering why Burlys batting 6 now? No more than 2 rightys in a row?
August 10, 2023 at 4:38 pm #231077I’ll be tuning in to this one to see Manny Motter take his rips and work the glove over at 3B. He’s been here now for what seems like a long time. I’m aware that he disappeared from view for a minute or two, but obviously the Cardinal bosses realized they made a grevious mistake and concluded they needed his tremendous talent back with the club. How long does he have to remain a Cardinal before he qualifies for one of those snazzy red sport coats? At any rate, it’s nice to see that the Cardinal manager’s smart enough to get him in there and keep him sharp. You sure don’t want to let Manny sit on the bench and waste away. He’s only a little shy of 34 and with all that talent still sitting there waiting to bust out we need to get plenty of looks!
August 10, 2023 at 4:47 pm #231078All jokes aside, how weird of a season has it been when Manny Motter’s situated at 3B in August and the Redbirds have an off day this Sunday?
August 10, 2023 at 5:17 pm #231079” manager Oli Marmol on his team still having something to play for: “Like, (giving up) is not how they think. They’re not thinking of not making the playoffs. The conversation in the dugout yesterday was, ‘Let’s get to .500 with 2 1/2 weeks to go and see what happens.’” (John Denton tweet)
Really? They are 3-5 in August so far and won one in a row. They are great at sitting around talking.
August 10, 2023 at 5:34 pm #231081They were within 9 games of even after that 6 game W streak in mid July and then packed it in just like they did back in late May when they approached to within 6 games of .500 and the team amd media folks sounded the trumpet and proclaimed that this team had, “turned things around.” They fooled me a lot back in May and a little bit in July. Now that they’ve all but publicly proclaimed to throwing in the towel, I’ll be surprised if they aren’t at 20 games under at season’s end. Any talk about attaining .500 with 2 1/2 weeks to go is not unlike some sort of baloney claiming that water’s not wet.
August 10, 2023 at 5:38 pm #231082Moreover, if the Cardinal manager really said that and knowing how he talks I believe he did, he should be sacked on the spot just for uttering that one solitary statement.
August 10, 2023 at 5:45 pm #231083The Nootz has put together an across the board solid season and now has a career .251 BA to go with a .353 OBP. Not too shabby.
August 10, 2023 at 6:01 pm #231084Strange start to this one. Its time for a real coaching challenge in this game. The baseball wizards need to get with Knuzner and Libby and figure out how we’re gonna keep base runners from stealing any base at will.
August 10, 2023 at 6:06 pm #231085I don’t think it takes a wizard to figure it out, Wooster. With the new rules they can step off or throw over to check on the baserunner 2 times. I think it’s a silly rule, but as long as they’re allowed 2 times, they might as well use those 2 opportunities. It’s like they forgot how to even look over anymore.
August 10, 2023 at 6:20 pm #231086I’ve got the Rays broadcast- they’re talking about Libbys high leg kick. Is that 2 times per base?. They’re saying Zorena was daring Libby to check him but Libby just ignored him. Knizer afraid to throw. You know Nooty stole 3rd last night. Baseball is alot about what the other teams doing. Motter looking solid at third.
August 10, 2023 at 6:23 pm #231087Don’t say it too loud but Libbys throwing bullets tonight!
August 10, 2023 at 6:24 pm #231088I missed the beginning but it looks like we’ve had runners in scoring position a couple times and failed to do anything.
August 10, 2023 at 6:29 pm #231089Knizner 2 run dinger! Yowza!
August 10, 2023 at 6:31 pm #231090Yeah Bling but Knizner just changed that! Goldy got a nice standup double and got stranded-Nooty too but Libbys looling good so far.
August 10, 2023 at 6:37 pm #231091Rebound Libby pick off thats how to do it!
August 10, 2023 at 6:37 pm #231092Haha!…He checked on him that time a caught him deader than yesterday!
August 10, 2023 at 6:47 pm #231093Yeah Bling but Knizner just changed that!
I like it when the min wage guy does what the contracts can’t.
August 10, 2023 at 6:56 pm #231094There is contract guy NA scoring from 1st on single by Burly. When bling starts raging on them, they man up.
August 10, 2023 at 7:01 pm #231095Nado Mister Excitement!
