Naile and King to be activated. Having those two arms lurking in the pen will strike fear into any opponent.

Let’s not lose track of what’s important with all that’s going on around us.

The main thing is, quite obviously, DIN-DIN!

My din-din today was a double cheeseburger and large fries from McDonalds. I got some bar-b-q wings from the Schnuck’s grocery when I was in Jasper so that will be my late night snack. Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for this one tonight. Along with a couple of 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars.

Then later tonight me and Whitey will tune in to the last few innings of the DBacks/Giants game from Candlestick Park. And if this one is a blowout, there is always the A’s and Dodgers game from Doyer Stadium.

I hope this King is less sweaty than Ray King was.

Donovan season ending surgery, per John Denton. So there’s another spot on the active roster.

Until we can get an experienced pitching coach it won’t matter who the pitchers we have are!

Didn’t Whitey use Ray King & Tim Conroy together as a ‘starter’ in the late 80’s – like get 3 innings from each guy then go to his regular pen?

Ray King was here 2004-2005. Unless there was another Ray King.

Maybe it was Ray Burris I was thinking of. Hell, so long ago now…..

Back to business as usual. Taking a gander at the out-of-town scoreboard:

The Brewers and Nationals are scoreless in the top of the 2nd at RFK Stadium.

The Tigers and Pirates are 0-0 in the 1st at Forbes Field.

The Reds and Cubs are also scoreless in the 1st at Wrigley.

The Twins and Cards have yet to dent the plate tonight at Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis.

Arizona and San Francisco later tonight at Candlestick.

No Donovan or Gorman? Ouch, that’s a chunk of our lefty bat production.

I wonder if we have 26 on the roster and in the house tonight.

Tough break for Donovan. But with the season in the tank, get the surgery done and come back strong.

Din-din here was homemade chili. I made it in the crockpot a couple of months ago, and the lovely Mrs. Bike dug it out of the freezer. We have it with Frito’s and cornbread.

Usually with chili I have a cold cerveza as well, and poured myself a tall, frosty one – to quote Mike Shannon.

I highly doubt there are 26 there. Edman, Thompson, Naile probably made it to replace Hicks, Montgomery, Stratton. But doubt replacements for Flaherty or DeJong have arrived. Probably a very limited pen tonight and need Mikolas to eat innings.

Terrible base running by walker. Missed the bag, never picked up the base coach, then out on the appeal

Another way to bungle the game of baseball.

King is pretty tall but does not come over the top, so doesn’t get any down hill. Arm slot varied some, from above 3/4 to well below 3/4. I couldn’t tell if that was tipping pitches or not. FB came in 93-94 with good control, but it seems like righties get a pretty good look. He was throwing something else at 84, that was missing a lot, maybe on purpose. Gave up a double, but looked good enough. I can see where he could get hit around though.

We’ve had runners, but nobody can hit when it matters.

Walker had no chance against this closer and his 101 mph stuff.

    Neither did Burly.

Walker has faded BADLY since the all-star break.

I can think of no reason why Masyn Winn isn’t starting at SS for the rest of the year.

If they leave him down to ‘preserve’ his rookie year for next year that will be one of the all-time stupid decisions in a season full of stupid decisions. It will be inexcusable in my book.

If the Cards don’t screw this up they could end up with a top 5-6 pick in the draft next year. Something they don’t get very often.

Yeah he hit .209 for July. We will have to see if he adjusts.
