Am I missing something? Wysneki listed as RHP and our lineup is rightys?
July 28, 2023 at 6:41 pm #229553I totally agree Pugs . Blings got LHP Smiley starting guess thats why we have all the rightys. O’Niel shoulda been moved up-Knizner too.
July 28, 2023 at 7:20 pm #229557Hey Wooster. Walker starting to look very comfy out there in the outfield. I still envision him as a 1st baseman down the road, but until then, how about him winning an outfield GG in 2025?
July 28, 2023 at 7:24 pm #229559Friday night game threads are usually deader than a doornail. Something tells me that tonight will be different. Cards-cubs scoreless after 1 complete.
July 28, 2023 at 7:26 pm #229561Wysneki is the opener.
July 28, 2023 at 7:28 pm #229562Cards-cubs scoreless after 1 complete.
Your world must be different
July 28, 2023 at 7:28 pm #229563Nooty tags a leadoff rocket into the left field bullpen and just like that the Cards grab a 1-0 advantage.
July 28, 2023 at 7:28 pm #229564Pugs, you are a little ahead of yourself. The Cardinals have scored in their half of the first.
July 28, 2023 at 7:30 pm #229566Oh wow …..thanks Bling & Forschster…..a simple misprint…….one can find many in your daily N.Y. Times on a daily basis.
July 28, 2023 at 7:32 pm #2295671-0 Birds after 1 complete…….trust me.
July 28, 2023 at 7:33 pm #229568
jj-cf-stlParticipantDoesn’t matter where you bat Noot in the lineup, he just hits.
July 28, 2023 at 7:33 pm #229569That’s a dangerous thought, Pugs.
July 28, 2023 at 7:38 pm #229570He sure does, JJ. We better not see Nooty dealt. You know, as much as I hate these cubbies, some of my finest baseball memories were watching Harry & Steve on WGN back in the day……..oh wow, Mancini just misses leaving the yard, but fortunately O’Neill tracks it down …….now O’Neill is one player who certainly could be cleaning out his Busch locker soon. A DP puts the finishing touches on the cub 2nd, as we move along to the bottom of the 2nd.
July 28, 2023 at 7:38 pm #229571Several games ago a GB was hit fairly softly to the right side with a Redbird baserunner at 3B with less than 2 outs that I thought most certainly scored a run. I think DeJong hit it and I was grateful that he at least put it into play to get a run across. I kept looking at the score graphic on the screen and thinking to myself, “This guy ain’t paying attention and doing his job by adding the Redbird run”…Turns out the silly run never scored and I was the one not paying attention…Haha!
July 28, 2023 at 7:44 pm #229572It’s a pretty darn rare event when TD makes a mental miscue. That occurs about as often as Goldy booting an easy grounder at 1st. If we gave out GG’s around here, you’d have a whole fistful of them, TD.
July 28, 2023 at 7:48 pm #229573Seems like a lot of pitchers set their personal best K marks vs our boys this year. Cards leave 2 stranded in the 2nd, but still lead it 1-0.
July 28, 2023 at 7:50 pm #229574I’m with you on those old WGN broadcasts, Pugs. Back then along with the WTBS Braves broadcasts it was really something special to have access to a televised Big League baseball broadcast almost every day. ESPN didn’t even have live games back then. At any rate, if the Cubs or Braves were playing, one of those WGN or WTBS broadcasts were always up on the TV screen in just about any tavern or sports bar in any town.
July 28, 2023 at 7:52 pm #229575Boy it’s too bad it looks as if Monty might be leaving. He’s kind of a big horse in the same durability mold as our old pal Lance Lynn. Pitchers like Monty do not grow on trees.
July 28, 2023 at 7:57 pm #229576Whoa…The Nootz with tater number two!
July 28, 2023 at 7:58 pm #229577That was a Nootshot.
July 28, 2023 at 7:58 pm #229578Great memories TD. cubbies games on WGN during the day and TBS games at night. The cub broadcasters were much more entertaining, but the Braves broadcasters were no slouches. I think Braves baseball from that era and I think Crime Dog, Sid Bream, David Justice, Greg Maddux, Tommy Glavine and that kook Braves pitching coach who’s name eludes me who used to rock back-and-forth back-and-forth in the dugout for the entire game ……oh Nootster! Drills one into the right field seats this time for a homer and it’s 2-0 Cards ……Nooty needs to deposit one into the center field seats next time. I wonder if a player has ever hit homers to left, center and right fields in the same game?
July 28, 2023 at 8:04 pm #229579Eli Marerro….. there’s a name from the past. I recall him having cancer as a player. Hopefully, it never came back.
July 28, 2023 at 8:04 pm #229580
jj-cf-stlParticipantNot is also leading the team in OBP.
July 28, 2023 at 8:05 pm #229581Leo Mazzone, Pugs.
July 28, 2023 at 8:07 pm #229582Leo Mazzone, Pugs
That’s him……thanks Bling! 30 years removed, I can still see Mr. Mazzone as clear as a bell rocking back and forth in that dugout.
