Chris Duncan carried the Cardinals in ’06 while Albert was on the DL for about a month in ’06, LeGrand, but Ludwick wasn’t a Redbird until ’07.

Not the best night for Goldschmidt. I was surprised Counsell replaced Woodruff after he carved up Goldy last time, but Payamps struck him out as well.

Just tuned in to see goldy take a 3-0 fastball right down the middle, then gets a wicked called strike, then strikes out swinging. Boggles my mind. 3-0 you should always be looking fastball down the middle only and swinging if you get it

Sheesh, terrible swing by Contreras on 3 and 0. But he walks anyway – every pitch to Contreras was in the same spot.

Jeez – you would think to delete an entire thread a warning would come up like, “About to delete this thread – are you sure?”

D’oh! If it was smart design, it would have a deleted thread waste basket. Did you check that? I noticed even on my Fios DVR if I delete a recording, I can recover it from the waste bin.

Man – O’Neill does not get it out of the infield on the 3-1. Gotta be aggressive on 3-1, but Payamps sawed him off with a great pitch.

Our club is really in a funk right now. The potent offense of the first three games has disappeared.

The correct answer to the first question of the trivia is Dane Iorg. He not only tied Lonnie Smith and George Hendrick for most Redbird hits in the 1982 WS with 9, but he only he appeared in 5 games to collect his 9 hits. He also led all Cardinals in that WS with a scathing .529 BA. And although he scored 4 runs in that WS, he only pushed 1 run across HP for his solitary RBI. Most of us should remember that he reappeared in 1985 to be a major player in a very bad nightmare for the Cardinals and the rest of us who watched that game when he drove in the tying and winning runs with a PH 2 RBI single to end Game 6 of the 1985 WS in KC.

Yeah, I would think we can recover that thread Euro. Will see.

It really wasn’t a great pitch, except O’Neill made it one. It was ball 4.

When I first glanced at Brewers RF’er Joey Wiemer, I thought he was Rusty Staub.

Oh, I thought you were referring to the same season as the Rolen/TLR rift, LeGrand.

The Brewers had what I thought was a pretty clever logo on their caps with the old mitt and baseball M b logo. This new one is silly. I had to look it up to see what the heck it meant.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a called strike that was that far off the plate. That was beyond bad.

When is comes to calling balls/strikes, there are two kinds of umps — bad and worse.

When Hicks comes into a game, stuff happens. Fast.

Early in a long season and the pitching has been suspect at best. But I wonder if the real problem isn’t one with the players vs. the manager. Something just seems grossly off, and that run in with TO I don’t think has settled out yet. Does Marmol make it through the year is a legit question that may need answering.

It sure does, Euro, but what’s worse is that he keeps getting the baseball handed over to him during games of which are still within reach. I don’t get it.

How much longer does the club keep Hicks with the Big League club? He is struggling and needs to get some things corrected. Don’t believe he can do that at the Big League level.

TexasCard…As you mentioned it’s early, but if this team is 10 games under at the break, he’ll probably need a strong sedative to get a good night’s sleep.

Well, depite the 6 BB’s, the SP’er wouldn’t have won this one with a CG shutout.

Has there ever been a two win season?

The offense was weak tonight and after playing seven games the Cardinals have a grand total of zero quality starts from the rotation.
