I thought they sent Herrera down before he buried himself at the plate. I’m not expecting him back, by choice, any time soon.

Romine is just filling a hole because we dfa’d Sanchez for his 40man spot. When Yadi returns Romine may be gone. Guessing.

Kiz is at 431 career PA’s. A stop gap catcher acquisition now, and for 23′, could buy Kiz and Herrera another season without “starter” expectations, as backups.

Good finish by Gino and Helsley. Glad we got them. Our abs in the 9th were awful. Looked like we were trying to end the game. Finishing the lineup with Donovan-Sosa-Knizer is a black hole. Like writing off one inning at the plate. I imagine these two teams are tired of playing each other now. One more time tomorrow. Go Cardinals!

Matz with a GmSc of 60, good outing against the same club that bombed Wainwright.

Just came to see the griping about Matz. If he pitches like he did tonight he will keep us in a lot of games. Give the guy more than a month of starts before you write him off! Then again, I also watched Corbin of the Nats pitch last night since he was going against Gallen and I thought Corbin looked pretty decent too.

I posted on the Sunday thread. The Reds announcers said Matz suffered a knee strain, not an ankle strain. The Reds announcers felt like a knee strain would be worse.

    Paid - Annual

We’ll be lucky to get 3 innings out of Matz. I’d been hoping for 4.

Having slept on it overnight, I have come up with a rationalization for how I wasn’t wrong about Matz. His good performance last night seems likely to result in him missing his next turn in the rotation. So if you average his 5.1 IP and 60 game score over last nights start and his next scheduled start, which he will likely miss, then it comes to 2.55 IP and game score 30. Hopefully, when he returns to the rotation his next two outings will be an improvement on that.

Is anyone else thinking IL for Matz by Tuesday?
