He hit one really hard last night too. Looks like he may be puttin it together now.
July 11, 2022 at 8:51 pm #190903Genesis (properly pronounced “Hen-a-sis”) “Cabby” Cabrera pitching for St. Louis as we start the 9th in a 6-1 Redbird ballgame. Gotta love Cabby!
July 11, 2022 at 8:53 pm #190904And Cabby’s night is a short one, as he induces a groundout to the leadoff hitter and then gets shown the door. Kind of odd with a 5 run 9th inning lead and no baserunners.
It’s Junior Fernandez time. And he quickly gets Hoskins to ground out to Sosa at 3rd, but then Castellanos spanks a base hit to center. Hall with a broken bat infield single keeps the faint Philly flame still flickering. Realmuto strikes out swinging to end it!
Your glorious final score:
St. Louis Cardinals 6
Philadelphia Phillies 1July 11, 2022 at 9:06 pm #190907Its a Winner! Nice job by Mikolas he finally gets rewarded! Good pen. Good bottom of line-up. Where did the top of our lineup go?
Anyway I’ll take it and stomp all over our losing streak till its gone!
Hollywood Dodgers are next. I hate movie stars.
Go Cardinals!July 11, 2022 at 9:14 pm #190908Two in a row. Now the Dodgers. Let’s see where they stand after the next few games.
July 11, 2022 at 9:23 pm #190911The 3 & 4 guys go zero for eight with five strikeouts. Looks like we got shut out again. But wait, other guys step up and lead the way to 6 runs and a victory! Great pitching too.
Dickerson is a guy who could have a real good second half. A couple of hits tonight is a good sign. We will see if he can get some confidence back and make a difference.
July 11, 2022 at 9:34 pm #190913Good to get a victory to close out the series. Hopefully some momentum to play LA. Although we used to sweep LA in St Louis all the time so you never know.
July 11, 2022 at 9:36 pm #190914Things do tend to even out over time. Hopefully, that means that there’s a wicked winning streak coming up…. hopefully.
July 11, 2022 at 9:51 pm #190916I missed the end, but nice win against a good team. Maybe some of the guys are heating up.
July 11, 2022 at 9:58 pm #190917Carlson has looked good in CF….
July 11, 2022 at 10:25 pm #190918Carlson has looked good in CF….
No doubt. Good results and he’s looked smooth doing it.
July 11, 2022 at 10:41 pm #190919Mikolas should be an All star, there are several “snubs” but he’s definitely at the top of this list.
July 12, 2022 at 8:36 am #190935Nice to see Dickerson finally earn some of his $5M.
July 12, 2022 at 9:06 am #190940Oddity from last night’s game:
Tonight was the fifth game in MLB this season in which neither team issued a walk (Last: BAL @ TOR on 6/15)… First time St. Louis has been involved in a game with no walks since 6/17/19 vs. MIA… First time the Cardinals and Phillies have played a game with no walks since 9/10/91, a 5-2 PHI win at Busch II.
July 12, 2022 at 9:21 am #19094414NyquisTParticipantI feel that there is reason to think that Dickerson was playing with an annoying injury and his stint on the IL gave it time to heal. Let’s hope that I’m right. The guy knows how to hit.
Good to see the bottom of the order give most of last night’s production. Now if the top can step up vs. the LAD we’ll take 2 out of 3…. at least.
